WGU RN-MSN April 2016 start

Nursing Students Western Governors

0Hi, I'm starting on April 1st, 2016. Anybody here starting with me? I initially applied for the RN-BSN program but after thinking about it, I just decided to go for it and go straight to MSN with the hopes of finishing the program in at least 12-18 months. My start date was supposed to be March 1st but I was just told that I'll have to wait one more month.

My ultimate goal is to go to a NP program in CA by doing post Master's certificate. I'm not sure which schools would accept, though. I've been looking at other programs but the cost is just prohibitive at this point. I want to earn my MSN at least and go from there!

I am in the MSN program and average paper is about 30 pages...and each class has a paper.

I suggest that maybe you're doing it wrong if your average paper is 30 pages. The only paper I wrote that came CLOSE to that was my capstone paper. For me, the average paper was 7-10 pages.

I am in the RN-MSN program currently. There are 3 classes extra if you do rn-bsn then bsn-msn instead of the direct route. There is also an issue with people finishing the BSN and then having to wait several months to start the MSN. The waiitng is still there if you do the program separate, so even if you can start BSN immediatly and whip through it, you will just sit a few months after to start MSN program and have a total of 3 more calsses with doing it that way.

None of my papers have been anywhere close to 30 pages.

I have only just started the MSN program...finished first class with a 10 page paper. I have a few co-workers that have completed the program and they said on average...papers were 20-30 pages. One co-workers capstone was 75 pages, while the other one had 102 pages. All the best to anyone who can whip out 2 degrees in 1 year.

I just applied to western Gov for RN to MSN...start date April...Question I have How long did each course take you to finish and did you do 1 course at a time? The admission guy said you take 1 course at a time and when your finished you start the next but couldn't tell me how long each class took. He said some people finish quicker as its based on what your know? confusing to me. could someone please explain and tell me realisticly working 36 hr a week and just a husband at home, how many courses I may be able to get finished in 6 months?

I'm also starting the program April '16. We should definitely keep in touch! It would be nice to start out knowing at least one person!! Lol I looked up the average time it takes to complete is 3 years...according to the website. That really scares me. Lol but I guess what matters is how dedicated you can be. I work full time & have a son so I'm nervous about how much time it I'll take me. Because I want to be done asap.

So I just got my transcript eval and I was able to transfer 86 credits! I only have 61 credits left in the RN-MSN program. How long do you guys think I'll be be able to finish? Is one year possible? I work full time, 36-40 hrs per week. I know it's hard to predict but I just want to have a realistic timeframe to work on. Thanks!

What were the 3 extra classes? Can you please clarify because when I spoke to another enrollment counselor, he mentioned that there aren't any extra. I haven't been able to compare it side by side, though. Also, you are right. My current counselor mentioned that there might be a bit of a wait too in between 2 programs.

WGU BS MSN students for April 2016...we need to stay in touch..Not quite sure how to do that on this web site but maybe on facebook???

I did save some to my contacts...again..not sure how that all works?

I'm still waiting to hear from my enrollment counselor as to whether I make it in the April cohort for RN-MSN or will need to wait till May. I should hear back this week.

I'll let you all know!

I think I'm back to my original plan of RN-MSN program. When I got my transcript evaluation, I got 34 credits left to graduate for the BSN. Even if I breeze through it, it's still not going to be cost effective since I plan to continue going for MSN. I wouldn't save by finishing early and re-enrolling for the MSN. Also, my counselor mentioned that there is a wait time too in between programs. I will aim for a two- term RN-MSN. I'm very driven to finish and get it over with!:)

I will be starting in April, received my transfer eval and I am very pleased :)

im in the same boat as you.. I am realistically putting myself at 4 terms but will be very happy if I can do it in a shorter amount of time
