WGU Pre-licensing BSN for 2015

Nursing Students Western Governors

Published

Hey everyone,

I am looking at possible attending WGUs Prelicensing.

I have been between 2 schools but it is looking more positive with than the other school. I have to retake my A&P 2 due to the Lack of quality instructors. The Professor we had was absolutely horrible and many of us in the class need to retake it due to low grades. I will have to wait til Spring and take it at a community college instead of where I took the last one. I am wondering how many other are planning to attend in 2015.

Other than that I will have all I need to Apply. I am emailing my enrollment counselor and find out the upcoming dates that are out so far in 2015.

I am gearing more towards WGU and having a group to work together and keep eachother motivated would be great. Let me know.

Thanks

Shonda

Well I found out the LA Cedar Sinai cohort in 2015 actually starts October 2015, not August.

That will work for me because I am taking a Physiology class with lab at my community college and the Human Lifespan and development class is needed as well. I may CLEP that one since they take the CLEP score. But the semester ends May 15th so it gives me time to get evaluated for the Physiology class, complete my TEAS exam and submit my packet by the Dealine. I believe it's July for the deadline.

how important is the TEAS score in determination into the program? I have a 3.2 gpa, but my TEAS score was very low in comparision to last years average (64). I am very nervous I will not get in. I have 3 years of healthcare experience in cardiac surgical patients. I am just extremely nervous. At times I dont think my counselor is every confident.

Lexii:

For the Cedars cohort, the TEAS score seemed to be the top eliminating factor. You will need a score of above 90% to make it into the cohort. Your healthcare experience will be a tremendous plus for you, but if you can, maybe retake the TEAS for a higher score. I had an average GPA in my first bachelor's and my pre-reqs GPA is only 3.75, but my TEAS score was 92.7%. I'm not sure about the scores for the applicants in other cohorts so maybe someone else will chime in.

If your counselor is not saying things like "your grades/scores are good", etc., you need to ask her/him what you can do to improve your application and really listen, then take action. Good luck!

The program does start til Oct 2015.

WGU doesn't have an LVN to BSN. They have only prelicensing BSN. They prefer you have an Associates or Bachelor degree in any major along with the science courses completed. Being an LVN helps with showing you have a license in a medical field but it wont shorten your BSN program. The program is 24 months. 6 months in courses.prior to clinicals. You apply for the clinicals portion after you complete the 6 months of core classes.

West Coast University WCU is the school with LVN to BSN. Not .

Are yall speaking of or WCU West Coast University?

WGU does not have a LVN to BSN.

WGU only have RN to BSN, PreLicensing BSN and BS Health Informatics.

WCU has LVN to BSN and BSN Prelicensing.

Ohhh I see. I was interested in instead of university of phoenix. Do you know when the adn-bsn program start at wgu? My coworker is a lvn and going to west coast university to complete bsn .

Specializes in OB-Gyn/Primary Care/Ambulatory Leadership.

It has rolling enrollment at the beginning of each month. From time of first application to starting is usually around 2 months or so.

Remember Does Not Have a ADN-BSN program. They have RN to BSN. For students who went to school and got the license can apply. Here is the website for the RN to BSN if you have an RN license already.

You can also see the pre-licensing as well.

How does your friend like the West Coast University Program? I thought about that school but it is just too darn expensive.

For the RN to BSN program at :

From the website:

"Applicants must possess an associate's degree or diploma in nursing and have a current, unencumbered registered nurse (RN) license. Applicants must be working in a position that requires use of nursing knowledge and expertise at the time of application and enrollment."

So as long as you are an RN and working in the position you can apply.
