Westchester Community College(WCC) Spring 2014

Published

I received a call yesterday saying I was accepted to the Spring 2014 RN program. I wasn't accepted for the Fall 2013 RN. I was surprised because I was told originally when I asked that I couldn't take the TEAS until next year for next Fall and they wouldn't apply my current TEAS score to the Spring semester. So this is totally the opposite of what I was told before. My score was 75.3. So I was asked if I wanted to continue with the LPN program that I was accepted to for Fall 2013 or chose the RN for Spring 2014. I chose to go straight for the RN! So excited. I had to change my schedule for Fall though :( Has anyone else heard from the Nursing department about acceptance into the Spring 2014 RN program??? Please post when you do. They said they would officially send out orientation letters in a few weeks. Good luck to anyone who applied for the Spring!

when is the deadline for WCC for Fall 2014? There website doesn't seem to have much info. How do you apply do you just fill out the regular application and choose nursing? Also, I'm taking A&P II in the spring semester while I apply. Is that okay, or does it have to be completed prior to applying? I clicked on the link to information sessions, but it doesn't go anywhere. Thanks![/quote']

There a specific time to apply. You need to go to a Nursing info session and they will let you know when you can apply. They will take down your info to email you when the applications will be ready. Taking A&P II in the spring is fine to apply for fall. I just did that and was able to apply.

Just read that you said the link doesn't work. Go to the admissions office and ask them when the next info session would be.

Thank you for replying KingWCC . I took AP in the 2009-2010 academic year, so I believe that those classes are alright. My GPA should be ok too. I graduated last year with a GPA over 3.7. I an going to start studying for the TEAS next week. I am determined to get a perfect score when I take it next ( if possible). I have not taken pharm however. If I did get in the program I just planned on taking it within the program along with dosage calculations. However, all the other classes ( besides the nursing classes of course) are completed. The lowest grade I have in the prereqs is a C in Composition 2 and that is because I was a lazy freshman.

Good luck in the Spring :)

That's the spirit! Don't make the same mistake i did with waiting for the last minute. There is a class that prepare you for the Teas, i suggest you take it. My biggest problem was i worked 12 hours a day except sundays and i felt so burned out i didn't even want to look at the book. The hardest part is to get in, once you do you're set. If you need to ask any questions about the Teas please don't hesitate, I wish you the best of luck!:)

If you don't feel like going in campus just to ask a few questions, i suggest you call them and ask. I believe fall 2014 session will be able to signup during march, but since they changed some of the sessions around, i am not 100% sure. Good luck.

I called the admissions office Wednesday or Thursday. I set up an appointment to attend the Nursing Info Session next month. The admissions office knows that the link is not working. I am super excited in going.

Also to reiterate what was said before admissions is not based on GPA. If you are invited to take the TEAS they admissions people already know that you are have grades at the minimum. The woman I spoke to said that the 25 who get the highest grade on the TEAS are invited into the program ( and they keep going down the list until the program is full). So the most important thing is the TEAS exam.

I did want to take the class but the class is only offered on Sabbath and that means I cannot take the class. I just plan on studying on my own by using study guides and Khan Academy.

Good luck in the Spring and I wish you the best of luck as well.

Hi there...can you please tell me where and what time the info session will take place? And do I have to call to attend? If so, what is the number? Thank you so much. Tried to PM you, but your box is full.

Hi mommyof2,

Sorry about that my inbox is no longer full now. I called the admissions office. The number is 914-606-6735. You do have to call to attend. I am attending one on Oct. 8th but there was one available earlier than that. I don't know why the link does not work online. I had originally called to ask about some classes I had taken and that is how I found out that there is a info session coming up. Just call on Monday and see if you can get in one.

Good luck.

All the best to you too AccelBSN2b14 - And thank you!!!

In case anyone want to know there is a RN info session on Yonkers this Wednesday ( 9/25). Just call the Yonkers extension site.

This is so true. I started in the Fall 2013 day program and there was only 25 of us in the class. One guy already dropped out saying "nursing isn't for him". so we're down to 24. For some reason I thought there would be twice that number in our class but I was mistaken.

So excited! Orientation is less than a week away! Can't wait.
