I received a call yesterday saying I was accepted to the Spring 2014 RN program. I wasn't accepted for the Fall 2013 RN. I was surprised because I was told originally when I asked that I couldn't take the TEAS until next year for next Fall and they wouldn't apply my current TEAS score to the Spring semester. So this is totally the opposite of what I was told before. My score was 75.3. So I was asked if I wanted to continue with the LPN program that I was accepted to for Fall 2013 or chose the RN for Spring 2014. I chose to go straight for the RN! So excited. I had to change my schedule for Fall though Has anyone else heard from the Nursing department about acceptance into the Spring 2014 RN program??? Please post when you do. They said they would officially send out orientation letters in a few weeks. Good luck to anyone who applied for the Spring!
Something extra to add. Found out from some of my fellow micro students that most that took the last minute TEAS test for the Spring 2014 failed it. This is why they pulled people from the LPN 2013 for the RN 2014. So I am going to work my butt off now and for the rest of the program. My score was only a 75.3.
You can't really "Fail" the TEAS. Let's say 30 people get the highest score in the 50's(which is technically failing) they will still get in. Also remember a lot of those students probably didn't make it because we were chosen by the nursing department(getting the call) to see if we're interested so seats were limited. I don't think anyone can free-ride the nursing program without working for it. There are going to be times when you want to give up but you have to look past that and put the effort in(even if that means less partying, going out etc).
Less than a week to go, honestly i am really interested to see who will be my fellow classmates for 2 years!
~I know none of us know each other and all, but it would be awesome if we could form some sort of study group to reflect on stuff we might be tested on etc~
This is so true. I started in the Fall 2013 day program and there was only 25 of us in the class. One guy already dropped out saying "nursing isn't for him". so we're down to 24. For some reason I thought there would be twice that number in our class but I was mistaken.
Do they not refill the seat? It wouldn't be any good for them to keep a vacant seat open at the start of a semester. I mean if you're half way through, then that would be understandably.

I know there really isn't a "failing score" for the TEAS but this is what happened. I heard most got in the 60's and lower and that was unacceptable to the nursing department to accept such low TEAS scores. Hence why they called LPN applicants to fill the seats. Not saying they might have not accepted one or two high 60's. but if someone was to get that low I honestly don't think they are ready for the program.
We should definitely form a study group! We don't know each other yet but starting orientation and January we will!

I agree. I always wondered how they handled this. So early in the semester they should fill that spot.

I am going to have to disagree with you on this one. Because i know if there wasn't an English section i would get 99++ percentile. A lot of people who are trying to get in the nursing program can't seem to get over the English section. The day i went to take my Teas everyone were freaking out about the english section in general. All the damn answer seems right to me lol..

No they didn't refill the seat. Honestly, I would think it would be pretty hard for anyone to "catch up". I know it's only been less than a month but we already covered so much. For example, we already had our first exam on nursing theory last week.

The english part is that way because nursing tests and the licensure test will be set up this way. From now on all question will be about the best answer, not just the right one. They want to see if we have and understanding of these type of questions and scenarios.

Very true. Nursing is a lot of info to take in. Catching up would probably be hell on the person.
Orientation was awesome. Seems like we have people from all part of NY. The best thing is we only have to go in 2 days a week so it shouldn't be that bad. What i don't understand is why is there like 2-3 guys in the class. I thought the Nursing field WANT MORE GUYS, at this rate that will never happen.

I have spoken to a few young men on campus and most have chosen a different major. I see a lot of them going for radiology instead. At least we will have a small class. More one on one learning. Can't wait to find out which clinical site we will have.
