Westchester Community College FALL 2010 RN PROGRAM

Published

Just wondering if anyone is applying to the Fall 2010 RN program at WCC? Im curious to know what youve heard is the score you should obtain on the TEAS to gain entry into the program? At the Nursing seminar, we were told 85 or above and buy your scrubs but around campus Im hearing from students that they know of people who scored 90 and didnt get in.

Does the nursing program @ WCC only admit to start in the Fall semesters?

Yes, that is why so many people apply and take the test at the same time.

Thanks for the reply! How does one apply to the nursing program? It's not very clear from the website, seems to me like you have to call them to get started? I attended WCC previously (last semester there was Spring 2006) and have completed my prereqs at another school. I read online that I would have to call admissions to reactivate but that's all I know. Thanks in advance.

Also, I noticed that WCC is not accredited by NLNAC, which is not really a problem for me because I know the WCC program is highly regarded and it's approved by the NY BoN. However, my concern is more for when I decide to pursue an online RN-to-BSN, wondering if I would have a problem enrolling in a BSN program having come from a non-NLNAC accredited ADN program. Has anyone else had an issue? I assume not but thought I'd ask.

I know of a few people who have gone on to complete a RN to BSN program after completing the ADN at WCC. I don't think that would be a problem. As for applying to WCC, they offer monthly information sessions where you can get the relevant information. The next one is April 21st and you can call admissions to register for that. The application deadline for the Fall of 2010 was March 15th and the last day to register to take the TEAS was last Friday. They have a daytime and evening/weekend program in addition to a 1 year LPN program.

Their biggest problem is the fact that there are so many conflicting stories and rumors about the admission process. Different staff members say different things and so many people believe everything they hear others say (me included), that it is really hard to figure out fact from fiction. Also not being able to get a straight answer from the admission's office can be quite frustrating, but all I can suggest to you is to go to an information session and ask all your questions there. Good luck.

I spoke to one of the proctors and asked about the rumored 800 people taking the test. They said that EVERY YEAR that many people register for the test, infact he said that last year it was 867. He said this year is no different really than last year. Hope that helps!

I got a 91 on the TEAS and am hoping and praying it was good enough!!

Yes a 91 on the composite score is enough. Usually the scores are between 85 and 98. Good Luck to you!

I think so too but until I get that letter Im holding back on my excitement!

Did you apply to the evening program or the day program?

Day RN program!

Thanks for your help platanazo3 (love your username BTW ... :D )

At this point I am looking at Fall 2011 entry so I have lots of time I suppose (night program), probably won't attend one of those info sessions until later this year.

I will!

Oh I also wanted to mention that I was told by the proctor that there were 120 spots, which I deducted meant 40 spots for each program, which makes sense.
