I'll be graduating from LVN school in November and want to go on to an LVN-RN program. I haven't done any RN pre-requisites and, at age 50, don't want to take the time to do so... so I'm looking for a program with "built in" pre-reqs. I'm curious about West Coast University but can't find much info about it. Please tell me what you know about it... thanks!
vespa-gurl,
i was wondering how long it took for you to get the approval of your pre-reqs? i have been working with them back and forth for almost a year now because i havent been ready. now i am. i have a meeting next week with fa. when exactly does the class start in april? if im lucky, the only thing i will need is bio-chem. please get back to me when you can, thanks.
oh, and as for the pricing. it may not necessarily be half price. they credit you different amounts for each pre-req. i forgot exactly how it was weighted, but they arent weighted the same. i will get the info again, because i had the same question, and i will get back to you.
In reply to your question about transcripts, I was able to get my approval within one week from the Dean. Now, I haven't turned in my Sociology yet as well as take my English exit exam so I don't know how long they would take to approve those. It shouldn't be prolonged since the classes are about to start on April 13 and orientation is on April 1.
To all those that will be taking the HESI soon, my best friend that lives in Cali took the test last saturday and failed it with a 78.91....anyways she told me some stuff that was on the test that I wasn't aware of .....for example you have to know your ANATOMICAL TERMS like proximal, distal, anterior, posterior, medial, lateral etc., And for the math you need to know metric conversions.
Good Luck to you all!!!
lyssa89, have you taken your biochemistry challenge exam yet? I just found out that you can't go ahead and take the clinical RN courses until you've taken biochemistryHELP PLEASE!!! I just found out that I am eligable to test out of biochem at WCU, I am going to study my butt off, but I was wondering if anyone else has done this and how hard the test will probably be, I am really scared because its a hundred dollars, and I think you only get one chance.
i have aq uestion for you guys... i'm bearly going to start in Aug. and I havent turned in my transcripts yet but i pretty much have most of the GEs i had a question... Did any of you guys have Biochem already done at another school and was able to get it transfered?? and also.. i read a post somewhere that if you failed a class but retook it and got a C they would NOT accept it and make you do it again anyways..? is that true??!?! i realllllllly want to try to get as much of the credits done because.. i feel like time is against me.. i have a bs in biology and was really hoping my 4years wasnt a complete waste... PLEASE HELP ME OUT!
lyssa89, have you taken your biochemistry challenge exam yet? I just found out that you can't go ahead and take the clinical RN courses until you've taken biochemistryI am seriously thinking of doing the same. I wish you luck!!!
Can you please verify what you mean? I have not taken Biochemistry and am starting the BSN - RN program in a few weeks - I assume that I will be taking Bio-Chem there - and then will do my clinical RN courses...? I am a little confused by your message. Thanks in advance.
Hi. I was reading your post and had a couple of questions. Are you starting your BSN in august with or without any prereq's? Also you havde your bs in bio? I have my b.s. in Health Science and I feel as well that it was a complete waste just to make my parents happy. I just really want to start this nursing because its something ive always wanted to do but I was terribly horrified of the waiting list.

Hello all! I went through the process of speaking with the counselors, but I don't feel all that confident with the information I've been given. So, I thought I would post some of my concerns since many of you here have gone through the experience...
I've registered for the April batch in Los Angeles and just got my financial-aid approved the other day. I had taken most of my pre-req's (excluding Sociology; English; Bio-Chem) and the amount came out to about $44,000. However, I recently took Sociology and passed, but I haven't turned in the official transcript for that yet. I also plan to test out of English class.
** Has anyone taken the English exit exam? If so, is the test like HESI (how is it like)? I'm told that there's a good passing rate with that subject, but I don't want to be brash about it.
** So let's say I do pass the English exit exam and got my Sociology approved, how does that price come down? Many have mentioned that the tuition is $67,000 and with all pre-req's done, it should be half the price. However, I don't feel that I would get half the price
I was told by the financial aid counselor that I would get a good price because this April, WCU was going to even out their prices with the lecture and clinical classes. She said the bulk of the price tag was for the clinical classes. Well, I don't feel like a got a good price...
** Has anyone gotten all their pre-req's done, if so, how much was the loan (including books, etc)?
** Was it smart of me that I signed for the loan before I could turn in 1 or perhaps 2 pre-req's? I know they're going to deduct it later on, but I just don't want to feel jipped.
** Is it true that the LA campus is moving to North Hollywood, a fact that they've never mentioned in any of my meetings, but recently heard through a friend's friend?...
Thank you very much :)
