I'll be graduating from LVN school in November and want to go on to an LVN-RN program. I haven't done any RN pre-requisites and, at age 50, don't want to take the time to do so... so I'm looking for a program with "built in" pre-reqs. I'm curious about West Coast University but can't find much info about it. Please tell me what you know about it... thanks!
I am confused as to what the tuition includes. Does this tuition include textbooks? I feel like there are a bunch of hidden fees that aren't in the catalog. The tuition for me is already $96,000, I do not want to be in for a rude awakening when I go there and find out I have to pay out more fees.
What about the background check and malpractice insurance, who pays for that? How much does it cost?
I e-mailed Linda (admissions rep) and she just e-mailed me back saying that students have to buy their own insurance and she said we have to pay for our own background check?? hmm...
Go to http://www.nso.com. They offer a student rate of about $20 for a student policy. Our NSNA chapter at my school handled the insurance stuff, if I remember right. I would think that you can buy it on your own, just have to provide the name of the school you're attending.

no the textbooks and student membership to national nurses association included. no extra fees that Ihave encountered.
Hi everyone. Im studying to become a RN, I've already took the GEs at a community college but the wait list for nursing program is really long. So I'm considering WCU's BSN program. I talked to an adviser over there and took the HESI entrance exam twice but did not pass. It was the vocab. part that threw me off... so I'm just wondering how many times can I take the entrance exam? Is it going to be the same test or they have different versions? I did study the HESI study guide and even attended the test prep class...I got good scores on math, grammar and reading but for some reason I just couldn't pass the vocab section... anyone have any suggestions on how to review for the exam?? thanks.
I believe you can take the HESI twice and then you have to wait 6 months until you can take it again.
The vocab section on the HESI was soo tricky!!...thats the section I did the worst on. I still passed though because I scored high in my other sections. So maybe you should focus on doing well in your other sections to make up for the vocab...and then you should be able to score above an 80%?? that was my strategy when I took it...

Thanks for the info. :) so are you currently attending WCU? I'd love to go to a community college and pay less but the waiting list is killing me. I heard at WCU u can finish your bsn faster..but my only concern is the tuition. I think I probably have to pay up to $100,000 to finish my BSN which will take me about 2 and a half year? So how are the classes and everything? is it worth it to pay that much for the program?
HELP PLEASE!!! I just found out that I am eligable to test out of biochem at WCU, I am going to study my butt off, but I was wondering if anyone else has done this and how hard the test will probably be, I am really scared because its a hundred dollars, and I think you only get one chance.

i am not sure by what you mean by regional accred, but here is what i know. lucky, what exactly is regional accred? there are so many types of accred out there. there is acics, nln, ccne and what is the difference?
it is accredited by acics and in process of being accredited by ccne. see text copied from their website below

accreditation is a status granted to an institution that meets or exceeds specific criteria of educational quality. the purposes of the accreditation process are to assess and enhance the educational quality of an institution, to assure consistency in institutional operations, to promote institutional improvement, and to provide for public accountability and transparency.
for students and parents, accreditation means we provide an excellent education and have proven it to those that know.
accreditation is a deliberate, thorough, and voluntary process. accrediting agencies assess compliance with published academic and administrative standards and look for a continuous striving for excellence by the institutions they accredit.
wcu is an accredited member of acics.
the accrediting council for independent colleges and schools (acics) is a nongovernmental organization incorporated in the commonwealth of virginia with offices maintained in the washington d.c. it is an independent, national, institutional accrediting agency recognized by the u.s. department of education and the council for higher education accreditation (chea).
the stated mission of acics is to recognize educational excellence at independent, nonpublic career schools, colleges, and organizations in the united states and abroad. this is achieved through a deliberate and thorough accreditation process. in addition to rigorous inspection of academic programs, acics also looks for ethical business and administrative practices--practices that set and maintain the standards, policies, and procedures that provide the foundation and support for institutional effectiveness.
west coast university's associate degree in nursing program and bachelor of science in nursing program are approved by the california board of registered nursing.
for more information, please visit the acics website at www.acics.org.
