Hi Everyone!!!!!
So lol I'm going to put my life in a nutshell, I'm 20 yrs old and I live in NY, and I'm considering on going to WCU to obtain my BSN, I have most of my science and general ed pre-reqs completed. I decided to go this route cuz I just wanted to get this over with, and I most definetly like the idea of getting my bachelors in 2yrs time versus getting my associates degree at my local community college in the same amout of time. Anyways I have read about the costs and stuff but I have just some basic questions for anyone that just enrolled, currently enrolled or an alumni of WCU.
1. How time consuming are the classes?
2. Are the clinicals hard?
3. Was the HESI entrance exam easy and what did it consist of?
4. What are the costs?
5.Are they helpfull at finacial aid?
6.Would a person be able to work full time while attending?
That's all I can think of as of now, so whatever help you can give me will be greately appreciated.
Sincerely,
Chikita =)
Good, better, best, never let it rest, until your good is better and your better is best!
So I have a question about paying for this school..... I know it is REALLY expensive, and this is the exact program I am looking for, but cost is really important. Seeing as I am a minor (16 yrs old) and I am a graduate of high school how is there any way for me to get 116k!?!? My family is not rich and my SAR on FAFSA is 0. So how would I manage to come up with 116 to pay for schooling? I am more than willing to take out loans, but I'm pretty sure they wouldn't give loans to a minor child (you'd need a co-signer correct??) Ugh. Does anyone know exactly how I could manage to pay for this? I know I have Stafford Loans up to 5k and some odd hundred a semester and other grants but not 100 k + in them :/
I think that this route is different for everyone. I started this school, and so far I am happy with this school. It is a lot of money, but you will be done in 3 years and 3 months instead of 5 years, that it takes doing the prerequisites. So during the time some people are still in school, we will make money, and be able to pay off loans.
In Anatomy right now, we have a doctor teaching it, and he really knows his stuff. The teachers have to have a minimum of MSN to teach there. I am taking the BSN program, and I really enjoy it. I recommend the LA location. Everything was explained really well, and the helped with everything from application to loans. It was so easy! I found the school March 20th, Started school April 13th, and have now finals that I am studying for. I am 2 months in, and do not have to wait in line for school, and waste more time. But this is me, and how I felt. If you feel that you can take your time, then do. There are so many routes you can take, but I really like this school. I checked all the accreddidations, and they will have the last one this year (CNEE), for you to continue for your masters. It will be grandfathered in...I called the company myself!
Good luck to everyone!!
nicolemsm,At 16 I could not advise you in good faith to try and get 116k in loans. You have time to go the cc route and wait. I know it's not fast but you have youth on your side. At 16 without a cosigner you would not get loans.
I really agree! I am a student at West Coast but I am 41 and do not have the same luxury of time that you do. Go the CC route.. I really think that is by far the best choice.
All the best.

Thank you so much for your honest reply. I think I will take your guys' (and girls') advice and just not even think about racking up that much debt. I guess my only fear is being waitlisted since AZ has humongous waitlists (even for CC) and ASU is pretty competetive... as is UofA and NAU!!
I agree with everyone, I think you should go to CC route first besides your only 16 you still have a lot of time to really think about your future. Also, have you looked at any scholarships im sure you must have a good academic reputation seeing that you are a high grad. at 16. There could be scholarships for you that may take you full ride. you should look into that.
in regards to the HESI test, will there be great attention paid to the physics and chemistry part of the exam? i've never taken physics and i have no clue where to begin. as for chemistry, i can't seem to retain the information. can anyone please let me know if it's even worth studying those two portions?
& i definitely agree with everyone else about taking the cc route to just get rid of the pre-reqs. it's not worth paying the extra thousands to take it at WCU when you can do it for so much more less at a cc.

Yeah I am from NY and I have a 3.7 GPA....but I really don't think they look in to that that much....more or less what matters to them is that you pass your HESI exam....I also have a few pre-reqs done ....
But like I said the most important thing with them is that you pass your HESI and have the $$$ to pay the school
