Hi Everyone!!!!!
So lol I'm going to put my life in a nutshell, I'm 20 yrs old and I live in NY, and I'm considering on going to WCU to obtain my BSN, I have most of my science and general ed pre-reqs completed. I decided to go this route cuz I just wanted to get this over with, and I most definetly like the idea of getting my bachelors in 2yrs time versus getting my associates degree at my local community college in the same amout of time. Anyways I have read about the costs and stuff but I have just some basic questions for anyone that just enrolled, currently enrolled or an alumni of WCU.
1. How time consuming are the classes?
2. Are the clinicals hard?
3. Was the HESI entrance exam easy and what did it consist of?
4. What are the costs?
5.Are they helpfull at finacial aid?
6.Would a person be able to work full time while attending?
That's all I can think of as of now, so whatever help you can give me will be greately appreciated.
Sincerely,
Chikita =)
Good, better, best, never let it rest, until your good is better and your better is best!
IF the school is not accredited by the NLNAC will it be possible for me to get into a CRNA program?.. Im not sure the difference betweent the NLNAC and the other one you guys have been speaking about but I was planning on going to WCU in Jan. and I want to make sure that Im making the right decision. In the long run I want to be a CRNA, I was planning to get my BSN from WCU and then work in acute care then apply for a CRNA program, is that possible at WCU??
Hi everyone, I just passed the entrance exam for WCU last week. Had an interview with the financial aid rep. but the tuition is way tooo expensive. I'm applying for the BSN program which requires approximately 39 months to finish. I like how the school doesn't have waiting list, they get you in fast. but what concerns me is the tuition. I do qualify for federal aids but it doesn't cover much. the entire program costs over $110,000, my fed aid only covers $17,000, this means i have to pull out private loans to pay for the rest of my tuition! plus the interest rate for private loan is extremely high.. i don't think i want to be in that much of debt after i graduate nursing school... so i kinda hesitate to attend the school now.. i dont know if i should take the faster route which requires a huge amount of money but can get me into the program fast or take the slower route which is going back to my community college finish up my GEs and get on the waiting list?? please help me out here .. im extremely confused at this point D:
Go the slower route and live cheaply for a few years rather than spend years earning a higher salary but watching it all go out the door to student loans. I think the latter would be more heartbreaking than living meager for a few years
Now I did end up paying for a private lvn school but I had most of it in cash so wasn't putting it all on the never-never
Hi everyone!I just did my own research. I spoke to a few people at CCNE today! They said that WCU is doing everything that are supposed to do. For a new program, they do not do pre accreditation. So it will take some time. if everything is going as it should, WCU LA would have their credentials in April 2010. It will be grandfathered in for those who starts anytime before, and graduate after that. CCNE sounded positive. You can call CCNE if you'd like to at (202) 463-6930.
See you at WCU
:)
I also called local (around Orange County) hospitals that WCU-OC does clinicals, they said they loved WCU grads and hired a lot that've done clinicals at their hospitals. Good luck!
I just went to the orientation for the bsn program... It was very informative. BTW, the fee is now $126,000 for the BSN program. they say books, materials, uniforms included.
$100.00 to challenge a subject.
Im taking the test on Oct 22nd. Wish me luck!! I'm so nervous... I'm scared about the math and english....
any advice? How about the terminolgy what should I study?

Hey Guys...
If you guys are talking about the Hesi to get into the straight BSN program then there isn't much at all on anything other than math and English. The test is meticulously easy and as long as you know the basics you are completely fine. I didn't have any questions about Chemistry or Anatomy...there were a few questions about common antamocial terms like supine and stuff like that but there were probably a maximum of 20 of those. Also you get to use a calculator on the computer so don't stress AT ALL! Let me know if you have any more questions about the program!
