West Coast University BSN Program???

Published

Hi Everyone!!!!!

So lol I'm going to put my life in a nutshell, I'm 20 yrs old and I live in NY, and I'm considering on going to WCU to obtain my BSN, I have most of my science and general ed pre-reqs completed. I decided to go this route cuz I just wanted to get this over with, and I most definetly like the idea of getting my bachelors in 2yrs time versus getting my associates degree at my local community college in the same amout of time. Anyways I have read about the costs and stuff but I have just some basic questions for anyone that just enrolled, currently enrolled or an alumni of WCU.

1. How time consuming are the classes?

2. Are the clinicals hard?

3. Was the HESI entrance exam easy and what did it consist of?

4. What are the costs?

5.Are they helpfull at finacial aid?

6.Would a person be able to work full time while attending?

That's all I can think of as of now, so whatever help you can give me will be greately appreciated.

Sincerely,

Chikita =)

Good, better, best, never let it rest, until your good is better and your better is best!

Anyone attending WCU in Ontario, CA how do you like it so far? Is the BSN program what you thought it would be? How are the instructors?

Hi All!

I start the BSN program Nov 7th at the Ontario campus... anyone joining me? I am over the moon excited about it!

Hi LJ's_Dad35!

I will be attending in about a month and keep everyone posted about how it goes, but so far the process has been smooth.

Hey Sox03! I'm starting Nov 7th too! Congrats! When are you going for the orientation? Mine's on Nov 2nd. Good luck and see you there!!!

That is awesome! You know, I'm not sure when mine is. I need to get with my rep on that. Good luck to you as well. I'm sure it'll be great!

@ LJ's Dad35 and Sox03

I hope I can join you guys on the Nov 7, class. Wondering if you would be able to tell me your source for school loans? I dont mind paying the $100k, I just hope I can get the loans. Credit isnt the best... :( THANK YOU!!

Sallie Mae is who I went with regarding my private loan and Stafford Loan is my Aid. Good Luck and hope to see you there!!!

Thank you for the quick reply!!

@Hexee

Hi there! I also used what LJ's_Dad35 used, Sallie Mae and Stafford. I wasn't concerned about the cost either, it was being approved that was stressing me the most. I knew I wouldn't get approved through Wells Fargo, so i went through Sallie Mae. I did need a co signer though. I was kinda bummed about that, but it all ended up working out.

@LJ's_Dad35

I found out when my orientation date is, and it's also Nov 2nd! I cannot wait to get this ball rolling!!!

Does anyone know how much the student loan payments average out to be? While your in school and also once you graduate? I heard once you graduate they are close to 2,000 a month???!!!

Specializes in Hospice / Ambulatory Clinic.

Not sure how much debt you'll be carrying but I have $40k in loans $30k consolidated from previous academic adventures and $10 from nursing school. Payments are about $350mo

Just an FYI, there is a new law being passed that will cap your student loan payment to no more than 10% of your monthly income. You can always make more if you want to, but they cannot require you to pay more.
