Well, I think I just flunked out of nursing school today.

Published

We had another psych exam today....I was the one who posted on our last exam where only about 15 students out of almost 150 past the exam.

Well, we could only miss 10 on this exam and I missed 16, which puts me down by 11 points overall.

We only have 4 exams left and they all cover 300 to 600 pages of material for each unit and we only have 2 1/2 weeks for each one.

I have clinicals tomorrow and I'm not going. I just e-mailed the director to see what I need to do.

I would have to get a near-perfect score on the next 4 exams and there is no way I can pull that out.

If it were me I wouldn't throw in the towel. I have had some classes where I had to be the "Come Back Kid" and pulled it out in the end. If this is something you really want perserverance is key.

Go, Hopefull. They might have to curve the class.

I agree - Go to clinical. :icon_hug:

I passed maternity with a 77.3. Yup. 0.3 points between me and the reaper. Never give up, never give in. Skipping clinical is a bad call. When I was in the same boat in med-surg I asked my instructor if I should just call it quits when it looked like I wasnt going to make it and she said that if I ever re-applied throwing the towel in would count against me. Long story short, I re-applied and in the acceptance letter they noted that continuing on in the face of adversity was somethiing they were always on the look out for. hang in there.

I understand feeling discouraged.

But please go to clinical tomorrow. If you don't go, you will give your program director every reason to drop you.

If you continue to work hard and demonstrate excellence in other aspects of your program, you will give your director every reason to offer you a second chance.

Best to you.

You worked so hard to get to this point and to call it quits when theres still hope is just a tradegy. Keep your eye on the prize, i know it looks nearly impossible but the sky is the limit. Who knows, maybe the following material will be easier for you. Stop spending so much energy on what you cant change (the past) and redirect that energy in changing the future.

Best of luck, and keep your head up babe

Let's say you do fail and have to retake the entire semester. Wouldn't you rather finish taking all of the exams to be better prepared the second time around?

Go to clinicals and keep positive.

Good luck.

You've worked so hard to get where you are. Go to your clinical. The worst thing that could happen is that you'll get more experience.

Don't give up on your dream. You will regret it later.

Hopeful,

I have read many of your posts and I know you are a good student and will make a great nurse. I would definitely go talk to the teacher, but I wouldn't skip clinical. I hope that with everyone else struggling that they will recognize something is wrong!! Go talk to the nursing dean. No school can afford to flunk out such a high percentage.

Take care and I will send you lots of good thoughts, and hope for good luck.

Best regards,

Jean

I appreciate everyone's kind words. It probably wouldn't hurt so much if I hadn't been working so hard and have given up so much.

When I went over my last exam with my instructor, I took a note of everything she told me to do for this next exam. I read more carefully than I ever had...we didn't get pre-prepared notes for this exam, so we had to write our own. I had about 47 typed pages of notes. We got our ATI books on psych, I went through all the sections pertaining to our unit, I went through saunders, we had questions that came with our text, I went through those, plus the questions that were pre-printed in our book.

I did about 250 to 300 practice questions on top of all the studying, and I was doing VERY well on the practice questions!!!! Each time I set up an electronic test, I only missed one or two (I set them up in 30 question batches).

I talked to a clinical instructor that I had last year, she said to talk to the director and see where I could get some extra help. They just hired an educational specialist to help us out and increase retention.

I'll see...I just hope they have another exam before the drop date so I won't have an F on my transcript.
