Weird Home Remedies That Really Do Work!

Published

Does anybody have any they would like to share?

Here are some of mine:

Whenever my grandmother had leg cramps, she would wrap her leg very tightly in saran wrap. It worked like a charm.

If your hair is greying at the roots and you don't have time to dye it, rub ground coffee (of course only for brunettes) into the roots. They will cover up enough grey untill you have time to get your hair done.

Itching like crazy? Take out the vinegar and pour on itchy spots. You might smell bad, but at least the itching stops.

I know their are a lot more, but my brain how ceased to recall any more at this time.

How about yours?

THANKS :)

Painting nail polish (clear is best because it doesn't show up as well) over mosquito bites relieves the itching.

I recommend drinking cranberry juice for UTI's - it works. Something to do with the pH level of the urine increasing and killing off the bugs.

Blackberry brandy to cure diarrhea.

:)

Ground coffee also stops cuts from bleeding :)

Household bleach applied to an ant bite (particularly fire ant bites) will draw out the poison to a crust on top...will never itch again!

Vernors ginger ale. No other brand works to make you feel better when you've got the flu.

just a reply to drinking cranberry juice for a uti- it works to relieve symptoms but, at least for me, didn't kill the germ or whatever causes the infection. I got a uti in jamaica and drank tons of cran-juice and after 2 days felt much better but 3 weeks later i was so sick i was in the er! lost ten llbs. though because i couln't keep anything down!

My inlaws are gymnastic coaches from Russia and they are very big on the "no pills" theory.

1. Apple vinegar on a swelling due to broken bones, sprains including injured knees. (ptl ) I just tried it and it works. Drinking apple vinegar with honey and water can help a whole slew of problems incuding liver problems and its a great diuretic...... but it tastes NASTY!!!

2. wheat germ sprouts as a migraine prophylactic. I'm trying it right now

3. Corn hair tea for gas. My 83 year old grandma drinks it all the time so I've watched it work.

PS Exactly how would one go about INSERTING this yogurt?

Aloe Vera plant squeezings for a sunburn, or you can buy the gel at the store. Fingernail polish painted over the top of chigger bites. My mom is also a big believer in the cocacola for heartburn theory. For diarrhea, make jello... cup of water and the mix on the stove only don't add the rest of the water when it tells you to. The gelatin helps binds "things" together in your gut, gross, but it works...will also turn poop whatever color the jello is. If something is injured, it gets ice, it will help a cut to stop bleeding too. A doc I used to know would take the rubberbands that you use with braces and put them around hemmorrhoids, cut the blood supply off and they would fall off in a few days....ewwwwwwww!

Yogurt with live cultures is GREAT for diarrhea too...

puts back some beneficial bacteria and can actually bring an end to BAAAAD watery diarrhea by lining the intestines again. works GREAT for my kids.

so does UNsolidified jello, drink it down. Don't ask why or how! I don't know! but it works! worked great for my son when he was a baby.
