I have noticed that whenever I see sickness or talk about someone being sick, my hands get weak and I just feel weird. I'm totally fine seeing surgeries though and other health stuff. Advice or comments welcomed ?

If your feelings impair your ability to complete tasks and help your patients, then I would worry. If not, then work through your feelings and don't pass out. :)

Inevitably, you're going to encounter sick people in nursing. Have you thought about seeing a counselor to work through this? Otherwise, it really can hold you back if it interferes with your ability to properly care for your patients.

Do you mean sick people in general or do you mean "sick" as in vomiting? I think a lot of us have felt like tossing our cookies along with our patients at times. It's something you work through with time.

This.
If it is being sick...it goes away with time....at least it did for me, especially when I had a full weekend of post OP pts vomit in my presence as a tech-during my overnight shift into a weekday, a newish dialysis pt vomited before their scheduled dialysis.
Once it happened enough I didn't have time to feel nervous; I sprung into action to "catch" the emesis by bucket or trash can. :barf:
Its feeling actually sick. I havent even started the program yet. Its like I can feel someones pain. For example, i was watching a show about cojoined twins and they got surgery. Well it was when I saw them doing their physical therapy that I started feeling weird. .

Hopefully just nerves and it will pass, but maybe try exposing yourself to "sickness" in safe settings so that you can get used to self soothing so this does not interfere with your professional life
