8 Week A&P 1 with Edukan...what do you think?

Published

I'm thinking about picking up another class for the semester because the ones I'm currently taking aren't very challenging and don't require much outside work. Principles of Chem (less than 1 hr of homework), Yoga (no homework!), Brain and Behavior (no book=no outside work), Sign Language 1 (very little outside work). Edukan offers A&P 1 starting in March and running for 8 weeks. Do you think that's doable? I've already taken an A&P class a couple of years ago that isn't acceptable anywhere, so I feel like it won't be as tough as it would be for some people, but I don't want to get in over my head at the same time.

What do you think?

Also, they say in the syllabus that you should buy the books through eCampus, but do you see any reason why I couldn't buy through Barnes & Noble? They're quite a bit cheaper.

I got a call today that a spot opened up in session 3 for A&P 2! Looks like we'll be together again! I"m still on the waiting list for Micro in session 1. I think I can handle doing that along with my nursing class, and then the only science class I would have left would be to take chem 1 this fall, which I'm taking at my community college (feel like I need to do it in person rather than online.)

Yippee! It's really nice being in class with you guys, glad it worked out!

Hey where are you guys on the class discussion this week? Only 2 of us have posted so far! Come on, do we need a pep ralley????? We're almost done!!!!

Funny you bring that up, I'm getting ready to post in a few minutes! It took me a bit of time to grasp the cross-bridge concept so that I can respond appropriately. I gotta get my act together, haven't even started the labs yet! :uhoh3:

hi guys, i finished my labs and chapter review today , I might take the test friday or if not Sunday . I will probably do the threaded discussions tonight. Glad we are all in A&P 2 together also , this thread seems to have gotten pretty popular!BTW is Simmons are teacher for a&p 2 to tell you the truth I have not even checked! how are every bodys grades , so far I have a low B and am just trying to maintain that :

Hee hee! I just wanted to post the 100th post to this thread! And to say that yes, Simmons is the teacher for AP2 in session 3 - not too thrilled about that except that I will know what to expect. I am going to try to have all of the ADAM labs completed before the class ever starts - will do them whenever I have downtime between now and the - and it will cut out some of the work.

I'm still maintaining an 85, but at this point I don't think it's possible to pull that to an A, which is really frustrating. Maybe if I got a 100 on the next 4 tests? (Yeah, in my dreams!)

Also, I posted what I think is a really good website for understanding the crossbridge stuff. It shows why I think it's like a rowing team. Check it out (I'm Lana, by the way!) If you bookmark that website, it has some really good explanations for everything!

your websites are awesome , I really enjoyed them I bookmarked it I thought it had a lot of good info, as far as the labs you are right it would be good to do them before the class , and aim for the 100%

Wow, Seemik, it's great that you have a "B" in the class, I'm so jealous! Working hard to maintain my "C"...didn't do so well on this week's test (big surprise) so now I'm at a mid-level C instead of a high C. Ugh! I really don't like the tests Simmons gives, but what can you do? Only three weeks to go, trying to hold on!

Thanks for the website, kayte...also, the CD in the back of the textbook has a great section that explains the muscular functions and cross-bridge attachment theory, I thought it was awesome and well explained. Glad to hear you are at an 85, keep it up!

I'm not too thrilled about Simmons being the teacher for the next session, I just find him lacking somehow but can't quite put my finger on what the problem is. But the only other alternative is to go to Session 1 for 12 weeks, which isn't even open at this point. I'm a little apprehensive about doing the 6 week session, especially since I'm also taking Algebra, but I'm going to try to make it work!

I also wanted to share some good news...I learned today that I passed the criminal background check at the school I've applied to (no question that I would, still it's a relief to have it done) and they are now reviewing my file for admission consideration. I found out because the admissions coordinator called me this morning to ask a couple of questions about my transcripts. So hopefully I'll know within the next week or so if I made it in! It will be a relief to move on to the next stage.

Well, gals, that's all for now...good luck with the rest of the unit, and I hope you have a great weekend/Easter!

See you next week....

I did soooobad on the test , i will now have a c . Iwas going to cry the test was so hard for me today ;(.I dont know what to do , Im hoping we get lucky or something and the Prof. drops the lowest test grade (I wish ) wll the next chapter looks a little easier so Im hoping I can do better this time

I got another 40/50, which keeps me at a B. Wouldn't that be lovely if he dropped a grade! Somehow I doubt it though! :(

hey girls! i pm'd goingformydream this week because she took this class previously with simmons. there is no extra credit or dropping a test, but she did say that she thought the last 3 tests were a little easier. also, she used this link http://www.aw-bc.com/applace/ to study with. if you got a new book it came with a student access kit to mya&p. i had e-mailed simmons about this but he said we didn't have access to it but could purchase access to anatomy & physiology place. but...mya&p and anatomy and physiology place are the same thing! you can go to this website, choose our book, then click on student registration and you have access quizzes and exercises. wish i had realized this sooner. :( i have a few choice words for simmons but will keep those to myself. i'm realizing that if i have to take micro and ap2 with him i'm going to have to do a lot more research for help on my own. grrr... goingformydream is taking ap2 and micro through riosalado, but my a&p classes both have to be through the same school. and i've already checked with my school to make sure they accept credit through edukan (barton county cc). just thought i'd pass that along.

anyway, we've only got one chapter to do this week. i actually started on the homework last night. good luck!

Hey there, girls!

How is everyone so far this week? Well, I'm happy to say that I got a "B" on this week's test! It was a little easier, thank goodness, and using the tutorial CD from the book helped soooo much! If I can get a "B" on the next two tests I'll walk away from the class with a "B" for the course. Here's hoping! Anyway, gotta run, but I wanted to check in. Good luck this week and hang in there!
