8 Week A&P 1 with Edukan...what do you think?

Published

I'm thinking about picking up another class for the semester because the ones I'm currently taking aren't very challenging and don't require much outside work. Principles of Chem (less than 1 hr of homework), Yoga (no homework!), Brain and Behavior (no book=no outside work), Sign Language 1 (very little outside work). Edukan offers A&P 1 starting in March and running for 8 weeks. Do you think that's doable? I've already taken an A&P class a couple of years ago that isn't acceptable anywhere, so I feel like it won't be as tough as it would be for some people, but I don't want to get in over my head at the same time.

What do you think?

Also, they say in the syllabus that you should buy the books through eCampus, but do you see any reason why I couldn't buy through Barnes & Noble? They're quite a bit cheaper.

Whoa, I just bombed the test. I really have no idea what I missed either because I thought I was doing great on it. I went through and wrote out every one of the terms in both chapters - about 20 pages of notes - so I would get them all in my head and did the study guide. I think one of the things that throws me is the questions that say "which one is NOT correct." Ugh. I hate trying to think backwards on those to get the answer!

I also e-mailed Simmons and asked if we could view the test later. Maybe if he gets enough requests for it he'll do it!

WHAT WAS YOUR SCORE , I JUST TOOK IT OND GOT A 26/50:o BUT I DID NOT STUDY VERY MUCH PROBABLY JUST AN HOUR TOPS, HOPEFULLY ILL DO BETTER ON THE NEXT ONE I THOUGHT THIS ONE WAS REALLY HARD!!!

Mine was a 32 or 33/50. Not very happy with that. I finally got e-mails back from Simmons and he said he doesn't use the MyA&P stuff so we can't get a course code for it but said we can purchase access to something that's mentioned in the front of the book - haven't checked into that though because I really don't want to put any more $$$ into this! He also said that for security reasons we can't have access to the correct answers on the tests but he says that's the reason he doesn't have a comprehensive final for the class. Kind of makes me mad though because I've taken classes before that the teachers have had the answers wrong.

Guess it's time to just put it behind me and get started on the next unit.

Wow, quiet thread this week! I've done my homework for this unit and think the lab is done too except maybe the "beyond ADAM" questions. I"m not going to get to the test this week until Saturday. Have chemistry homework to work on today and decided that this Friday I am NOT sitting home doing homework! :nono: :lol2: :lol2:

Goodluck on the test! Think A's ladies and let's make this our best week!

Hey y'all! I'm back from a great vacation and hittin' the books again...kayte, I got a 32/50 on the last test as well, and I'm not happy that we can't have access to our tests either! Dr. Simmons wrote me back with the same answer he gave you--no test feedback due to security issues. Errr!!! Ah well. I took the Unit 3 test today, got a "C" on it. Still not great, but I was pretty happy because it was better than the last two exams and will allow me to keep my "B" in the class so far. Gosh, I really didn't expect this to be so hard! I took my time and really read (and re-read) each question on the test...I'm beginning to realize that it's real easy to get mixed up on how to answer because maybe one word is changed and then it throws the whole statement, know what I mean? Maybe I'll be able to do even better next week.

Well, gotta get back to the rest of my homework...I wanted to check in and see how everyone is doing. Take care and good luck on the test this week!

I just went ahead and tentatively signed up to take A&P2 in the fall session 3. I wanted to hold my spot in it, but am going to see how busy (overwhelmed) I am with work from nursing school and the Microbiology class that starts in session 2. I was going to stretch it out and take it as a 16 or 12 week class in sessions 1 or 2, but somebody named Terry Lee was teaching it and the syllabus looked like there was more work - more chances for points, but still more work and with all that I'll have going on I just don't think I have time for that. This way, it's Simmons and I already know what to expect.

Well, tomorrow I'm studying and taking the test. Wish me luck! I'll let you know how I do.

I am soooo not happy with these tests! I got a 34/50 on this one, again it's a D. I just really want to see what he says the correct answer is. I might as well not even read the chapter! Wish we knew how other people were doing. In my online classes at my community college it shows you the average grade on tests and assignments, so at least you don't feel so bad if you know that everyone else did bad too!

Hi , I got my test graded and got a 72% which is a C not too bad it will allow me to barley keep my B in the class , (at this point that is the best i am aiming for!) When we got the surveys sent to us on how the online class was going I mentioned that i did not like the test , and felt that i did not have enough time, hopefully simmons will pay some attention to that, well good luck anywayz bye!!!

I had sent Simmons an e-mail again telling him my frustrations with the tests. He said he checked the key and the tests were graded correctly (guess he felt like I was being a little accusing - tried to avoid sounding that way though!) I had asked him for suggestions on studying but all he said was "I checked the key and tests were graded correctly" That's not very helpful! It's making me reconsider who I'm going to take for AP2. The other teacher for the fall had a lot more work involved, but maybe that would be better?

Hey kayte, sorry about the test! I have to admit that I feel the same way much of the time about the tests myself...it sometimes seems as though studying does absolutely no good! I wonder if the other teachers conduct their tests in the same way? Well, if for some reason I don't pass this class I'll sign up for it again in the summer but with a different instructor. I know that none of them are able to provide answers to the test questions because of the security thing, but I'm wondering if they give a different type of test that might be more manageable. The questions are just so weird and do not cover the major points that I expect would be covered. Ah well, four more weeks to go, pressing onward.

Good luck to everyone this week!

Hey Girls How Are We Doing This Week???

Hey there, Seemik! Well, I got 60% on the test this week, a D...I don't even get upset anymore about it, I just keep studying and trying my best. Still have a high "C" in the class so I'm focused on maintaining it. The homework and labs are the only things saving my rear!! I've already started reading the next unit and trying to give myself enough time to go over it again and again and again. It's tough, but I'm still enjoying the class believe it or not.

How are you doing this week?

And how about you, kayte?

Good luck on the test this week if you still have to take it!

I haven't done a thing towards this week! Ouch! I'm going to hit it hard tonight and tomorrow and probably do the test on Sunday. Had a big chem assignment due today that I've been working on. 4 more weeks of this, right?
