8 Week A&P 1 with Edukan...what do you think?

Published

I'm thinking about picking up another class for the semester because the ones I'm currently taking aren't very challenging and don't require much outside work. Principles of Chem (less than 1 hr of homework), Yoga (no homework!), Brain and Behavior (no book=no outside work), Sign Language 1 (very little outside work). Edukan offers A&P 1 starting in March and running for 8 weeks. Do you think that's doable? I've already taken an A&P class a couple of years ago that isn't acceptable anywhere, so I feel like it won't be as tough as it would be for some people, but I don't want to get in over my head at the same time.

What do you think?

Also, they say in the syllabus that you should buy the books through eCampus, but do you see any reason why I couldn't buy through Barnes & Noble? They're quite a bit cheaper.

;) nc thanxs you made me feel better::;) also since simmons grade our assignments I got my average class score to a 89 , so if I maybe keep doing all my homework and just do a little better on the test I might be able to pull an A if not a B is not bad either I am currently taking this course with psycholoy , english comp1 , and hist, so far I have A's in all of the except A&P. I am also taking A&P2 for summer session 3 along with micro and chem through cccall duringng the summer , these will be my only three classes so hopefully it wont be that bad::uhoh3: My summer session 1 is also crammed but I find that when I overwhelm myself with work I do a lot better then when I just take 1 class wierd huh?. Katty glad to hear you are doing good , see ya guys in class!!!

Seemi

Wow, that's some class load you've got now and coming up in the summer! But it sounds like you are doing great so far and will handle it fine. I also have a "B" right now in class but I just took the 2nd exam and bombed AGAIN...I think the homework is the only thing keeping me afloat right now because I've done really well on those assignments. I studied soooo hard for the tests but everything I seem to be concentrating on from the reading isn't covered on the test at all. It's really frustrating. I sent Dr. Simmons an email and asked if there's any way we can see our completed tests just to know what we did right/wrong and learn from it. I have yet to hear from him. I don't know, I'm starting to suspect that it's going to take heaps of work just to get a B or C out of the class, and I've always been an A student, so this is weird for me. I got the study guide today in the mail so I'm hoping it will help some.

Anyway, keep up the great work Seemik! And don't get burned out on that schedule, good luck! See you in class.

Hi everybody

I am also signed up for A&P II thru edukan for session 3.. Glad to know that there our others on this board taking the class also.. Is the material really tough thru edukan? I have absolutely no idea on what to expect. I will be taking that, along with nutrition, history and govt.(thru the local college here) good luck to everyone!!

Edukan is great, I really like it so far. It's ALOT of work and the reading is sort of difficult IMHO...not hard to understand but there's just so much information to absorb. However, it is manageable with disciplined study. That's only my take on it, of course.

Sounds like we'll have another good group for A/P II this summer...I'm looking forward to it! Good luck to you, too, with all your classes.

here is the link for the book's website. Even though there is no instructor code, (he doesn't have one) you can still have access to practice quizzes and tests. If you did not purchase the book new, then there might be a fee for this.

You guys sound like you are doing great! I start AP 2 in April (finishing up Micro right now) you can bet that I will be using this website come April!

:) C...

Thanks for the link...and I want to say thank you for all the info and support you've given us so far! It's so nice to have input from someone who has been there, you're really appreciated. Good luck with Micro and AP 2!!

Hi, NC RN 2B

GLAD TO MEET YOU! My name is Carolyn and I see your from the South and 38 as well. Exactly what part of the South are you from. I'm from the Sooner State and I'm also 38. I hope to keep in touch maybe we can help each other out in our class together. I already have my books and etc. from Anatomy. I hope to finish this class and then take Micro, and then apply to a local college and hopefully get in to the nursing program. Well talk to you later and good luck in A & P I.

Carolyn

Hi Carolyn, glad to meet you too! Yep, I'm 38 and here in North Carolina...I have friends and distant family in Oklahoma, I hope to visit there one day just to see what it is like. I thought about taking Micro through Edukan also but just gotta figure the lab thing out. Are you applying to an RN or BSN program? I applied to a ADN program that will have classes starting up in Fall 06.

I'd love to keep in touch throughout the course, I have no doubts that we could help each other. Good luck with your schooling and plans, I'll see you around the forums and then at Edukan in June!

Take care,

Candace

By the way, guys, I just found out yesterday that I passed the entrance exam for the nursing school I'm applying to!!! The wait is far from over unfortunately...I still have to go through a background check before my application even goes up before the committee...it will be another 6 weeks before I know if I'm accepted to the program or not. Waiting is so hard! But it's nice to have made it over another hurdle and one step closer to the goal. Just wanted to share my good news. :)

Well, I'm off to pack...we're headed to California for spring break. I'm going to try to get on here next week but in case I don't, have a good week ahead and I will see y'all when I return (I'll still be on at Edukan though).

Take care!

I will probably take the Micro through Edukan also I have to figure out where I will take those two labs at, I thought about Connors State College in Warner, Ok. I hope they will let me do the two labs there. I will be applying to the ADN program for the spring of 2007. I will see you around also in the forums and through Edukan in June. Have a great spring break! We just had ours last week and now the kids are back in school. I will see you around and we will talk later . Carolyn

I'm going to Southern California to the L.A. suburbs...that's where I'm from! We've only been gone from CA a little less than a year and this is our first trip back home since we left, we're a bit homesick. But we LOVE North Carolina!! Funny thing, although I'm a CA native, I've never been further north than the Fresno area. I want to go to San Francisco and Monterey so much and just never had the time. Maybe one of these days.

Thanks for the cheers on the test and for the study group offer, I just may need to do that if my grades on the test keep going the way they have been!

Talk to you again soon!

Whoa, I just bombed the test. I really have no idea what I missed either because I thought I was doing great on it. I went through and wrote out every one of the terms in both chapters - about 20 pages of notes - so I would get them all in my head and did the study guide. I think one of the things that throws me is the questions that say "which one is NOT correct." Ugh. I hate trying to think backwards on those to get the answer!

I also e-mailed Simmons and asked if we could view the test later. Maybe if he gets enough requests for it he'll do it!
