I'm thinking about picking up another class for the semester because the ones I'm currently taking aren't very challenging and don't require much outside work. Principles of Chem (less than 1 hr of homework), Yoga (no homework!), Brain and Behavior (no book=no outside work), Sign Language 1 (very little outside work). Edukan offers A&P 1 starting in March and running for 8 weeks. Do you think that's doable? I've already taken an A&P class a couple of years ago that isn't acceptable anywhere, so I feel like it won't be as tough as it would be for some people, but I don't want to get in over my head at the same time.
What do you think?
Also, they say in the syllabus that you should buy the books through eCampus, but do you see any reason why I couldn't buy through Barnes & Noble? They're quite a bit cheaper.
Ooooo....sorry to hear about the hand! I fell on mine a few weeks ago and sprained it pretty bad, but thankfully it wasn't broken. It was just rotten timing - this semester 2 of my classes are yoga and sign language, and I missed 2 weeks of yoga from not being able to put weight on my hand, and was late for a sign language project because I couldn't do some of the signs correctly! Hooray for klutziness!
Lana, how do you like yoga? I've been thinking about taking a class....
Sorry to hear about your hand!
Thanks to all of you!!! My hand is feeling a little better. I am really not sure how I did it, but it hurts like heck.. SO, I think its need that there is a little support group going here. Thats wonderful. I was looking at the My A&P, Im assuming you have to buy the lab (ADAM) separately, is that correct? Also, taking the quizzes, does that help with his exams any at all???

I love my yoga class! Even though my class is over for the semester, I'm going to find one to take at my gym. We had to take a pre-fitness assessment and post-fitness assessment. I gained 6cm of back flexibility and a lot of upper body strength. My balance has also gotten much better. My roommate and I have a yoga DVD we do and she's always amazed at how much better I am than her even though I weigh quite a bit more.

Yes, the ADAM lab is bought separately. The ISBN for it is 0-8053-5911-7 and the one for the text is 0-8053-5463-8 (but I'm not sure if this is just the book or the one we need with the interactive physiology CD with it.) I got mine on Barnes and Noble.com because it was cheaper with my membership discount. I think others got it on Amazon, but anything is cheaper than ecampus.com which is where edukan tells you to get them. Double check the name of the book when you start looking for it to be sure it includes that interactive physiology cd because I think we're actually going to be using it in AP2.
By the way...my rant about ecampus...I sold a book back to them in December and still haven't received my check! I've e-mailed them twice and they said they were just backed up and that they could give me more money if I just wanted to have credit posted to my account, but their prices are always higher so I just want the check.
Just a reminder that this unit is due on Friday this week instead of Sunday. I didn't realize this until last night! Oops! I'm going to do my labs today and maybe the homework, but then it's probably going to be put on the back burner until after my chemistry final on Friday morning. Need to do a little thinking on the discussion topic as well.
Thanks, Lana, for the info on yoga...I just might do it! I'll probably get a DVD and try it out at home.
Seemik, haven't heard from you lately...how goes everything? By the way, I just read another thread that was talking about how some schools dock you for retaking a class...so for instance, if you got a "C" the first time around and an "A" the second, you end up with an averaged "B." The posters were recommending anyone retaking a class check with their school/nursing program to see what their policy is and determine if it's really worth the time and expense to repeat. Thought I'd let you know!
I'm almost done with everything for class, I took the test and got a B! I've already posted the homework and to the thread, just need to complete the labs. Whew! It's a relief to almost be done with this!!!!

Yeah! I can't wait to be done with this, but it will have to wait til Friday for me. I did most of the labs, but still have to do some of the "Beyond ADAM" stuff that requires a little research. I actually forgot to post my homework last week! Ugh. I posted my lab and took the test, but got docked 10 points for not turning in the homework. I could have kicked myself when I realized it, not that it will make a difference in my grade at this point! So you've got a B for the class, right?
But I guess the important thing to remember is the knowledge I'm acquiring, right? :) Simmons just doesn't know how to accurately test that knowledge!
Absolutely, getting the knowledge is what I view to fous on too...I personally think we may have fared better if Simmons wrote his own test rather than relying on computer generated questions from the textbook company (isnt that what he told you via email?)...perhaps the tests would have more accurately reflected what we were learning and what we should have been quizzed on, don't you think?
Although, I must say...he really seem to like your responses to the thread questions, really gave you great accolades there. He's right, you always had wonderful, detailed responses, I hope I can bring it up to that level next session!

You're welcome! Yes, there is a page on the Edukan refund policy, here it is:
Refund Policy
100% of tuition for EduKan classes will be refunded, if a student withdraws with notice by the specific refund date listed on the web page www.edukan.org (see "Academic Info" and "Semester Dates"). NO refund is available to the student after that point. However, Federal Title IV funds will be returned to their sources, for all students whose tuition is paid by Title IV funds according to the Refund/Repayment or Return of Title IV Funds policy, whichever is applicable. Students can be required to return Title IV funds as well. Failure to do so can result in termination of Federal Aid eligibility.
Summer Session 3 starts on 6/26 and the last day to drop for full refund and no record on the transcript is 7/5/06. Since it's a 6-week session, there are no refunds after that date but you can drop with a "W" on the transcript until 7/28. And don't worry, they send out a ton of emails to let you know what deadlines are coming up!
