I don't want to sound uncaring but if I read one more of these posts about 75 questions, "I know I failed" and 3 days later...."I PASSED !!" I think I will lose it. Could we not put a sticky at the top of the NCLEX thread? "Read this if your test turned off at 75". It's going to drive me nuts! :flamesonb

Wow.. that was pretty rude... So I guess you walked out of the test at 75 just KNOWING you passed right?? Seriously, your post was pretty unsupportive.. Most of us walk out of that test wanting to bawl our eyes out and need to vent somewhere.. And honestly, maybe our families are sick of hearing about it... or maybe they JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND.. which is why we come here to vent to our peers.. and maybe just maybe get some support... I would just suggest not looking at those posts if they bother you so much... You are on an NCLEX discussion board you know.... I wouldn't come to a board that annoyed the crap out of me and ask why people are posting certain things...
Oh and you did sound uncaring just so you know...

Oh and another thing.. If all we wanted to was read the FAQ about what happens if your test turns off at 75 (as in your sticky idea) we would read the bulletin they give us at the NCLEX testing site.. Making a post is called conversation and generally we like it to be a two way street...
i think you need to chill. :) this is a very real issue for a lot of people. it's practically a universal feeling to leave the test not knowing how you did, and like you failed. most people pass which is why of course a few days later you read that they passed. what's wrong with that?if you're weary of reading those threads and offering encouragement, then don't come to this board. the one who is "sickened" definately needs to not read this board.
why be an old ogre about it? let people express their fears, concerns and frustrations.
:yeahthat:
amen...to that...we were all there at one time and we all deal with issues in our lives differently...
i wish and encourage everyone to voice your concerns and fears...
this is a public board we can express and read what we want to. if a thread upsets you don't read it!!
This thread cracked me up. Tweety. you rock!!! I agree as well. If you don't want to read it, DON"T READ IT!!!! Sitting for the boards will one of my life's "big moments". If you think we shouldn't discuss the anxiety and feelings that go along with that moment, maybe you're not the caregiver you presume to be........Just a thought............

We all have a right to our own opinions. I respect yours. Slamming is not necessary. I've been a nurse devoted nurse for 30 years. I did not slam anyone just tired of seeing the same posts over and over and over. Not the frustrations and anxiety...just the title.
Before I post I look to see if the subject has been visited before. No there's nothing wrong with venting here, I do it all the time, but I have the right to say the same title over and over and over again is irritating to me. I will not change my mind but I will quit opening those posts. I've been through NCLEX as an LPN and an RN and I know how intense those feelings. I would hardly call it a huge moment in my life but then you're 25 and I'm 50. Big difference in our life experiences I guess.
Wow.. that was pretty rude... So I guess you walked out of the test at 75 just KNOWING you passed right??
Not rude, expressing my opinion. It's a free country.
Tweety didn't not agree at all and I'm perfectly fine with that...he was respectful and we'll go on to agree or disagree on other subjects and support each other when we need to.
I have taken the NCLEX as an LPN and as an RN and why would I walk out knowing that I passed? Sounds like rather a dumb thing to do. I had to sweat for 6 weeks the first go round and the NCLEX was two full days long. The second time I had 265 questions and felt like maybe I did not pass, sweated it out for 4 days, nervous as hell, but as an adult I dealt with it in an adult way and yes venting online is an adult way to handle it. I'm just tired of seeing the same post title over and over and over again. Please people check to see if the subject has been visited before. I always do before posting a new subject.

NO I am not on a NCLEX discussion board, you know, I am a premium member of allnurses.com. One of the forums is a NCLEX forum but no this is not a NCLEX Discussion Board.
So apparently I'm the only one who agrees..
Before I get Flamed, all I am saying is that yes, I do agree to dutchgirlRN's idea that there should be a sticky titled something along the lines of "NCLEX number of questions and clarification- 75, 265, or any number inbetween". I think that it would be quite beneficial to all students to have ONE POST to go to, to read about others feelings, and to get questions answered related to the number of questions received on a test.
Personally, if I have time I try to respond to those threads, the ones about 'does 75 mean I passed or failed???', or other threads along the same lines. However, with the amount of students that post a thread along those lines, I dont have time to answer each post! I would love to, because I'm still considered a new grad and I know what each student is going through when they walk out of the NCLEX and the fears that they have. If I could just post one post about what I would tell each new grad who has just taken the NCLEX, and it being a sticky so everyone would read it, I beleive I could make some new grads calm down and remember to breathe :)
From most of the posts I've read, the vast majority dont understand that the NCLEX is a Computer Adaptive Test, and that the number of questions doesnt mean anything. To have one post that all students taking the NCLEX can read and understand how it works, would be great. That way, all students could be supported on one thread and have each others support, while having the ease of scrolling through one thread that contains everyones feelings/frustrations/concerns re: NCLEX as well as advice from those of us who have been in your shoes, and who are now RN's or LPN's. I think with one thread instead of a gazillion there would be a better response to all students who are concerned how they did on the NCLEX.
Now I'm done. I'll just sit back and wait for some responses...and before anyone tries to take my post in a negative manner, I was not trying to be rude at all, and was just stating the facts.
That it would be easier for all students to have one thread to go to that addresses the number of questions gotten on the NCLEX.

You are kidding me right?? I was going to let it go but I felt I had to respond to what I perceive as someone being condescending to me and minimizing my life experiences...
As far as different life experiences. Sorry but this is a big fat hairy deal to most of us. I have been married, had children and been in the military where I was DEPLOYED and been on a 1 year remote tour to Korea.. so I would say I have experience in life.. And yes, it was the a big deal in my life to take a test.. Yep.. My mother who is 50 years old has been divorced 3 times, gotten clean and sober, had 4 children and I could go on and on just took her licensing exam and to her it was just as big of a deal as it is to US.. I just don't understand why you can't just read the title of the post, roll your eyes and then carry on with your day... Yes it is a free country which is why I am posting this..
Excuse my terminonolgy on boards, threads, forums... I don't know what they are all called... I have no idea what a premium member is or what the purpose is.. but does that mean I am not suppose to question your posts?

hey meghan
never took your response in a negative manner at all...
i for one am not a student and have enjoyed and been encouraged by the many posts on this nclex discussion forum ( fact) we all have a reason to be here and that is that we are, have, or will be writing the nclex soon or have written recently....
one thread would certainly limit the amount of threads you have to read ( fact ) your choice...to read or not to read!!
you have passed your nclex and yes i am sure you can encourage others but allow others to be encouraged in their own threads if they choose to post them...
everyone handles stress differertly and each person is individual
in their coping...if there is 50 posts or one post obviously that individual felt he or she was asking for support on their terms and in their own way..
most if not all realize what computerized adaptive testing is.
and some of us may need more support and encouragement than others.
congratulations on your success!!................

i do appreciate your post, but i feel i should add there is a big difference between the needing encouragement threads, and the threads that deal strickly with the number of questions the person received.
that being said, and the difference being noted, there can be numerous threads re: encouragement, and one thread explaining why you get the number of questions that you get.
as for most students knowing that its a cat test- you'd be amazed at how many threads i have read, or other students who i have talked to in person who have no clue how the nclex works. its a shame really that schools dont teach much about the nclex. my school didnt really teach us, i learned on my own and am now sharing that knowledge with others.
i love to encourage others, and i love teaching. i do orientations now for new nurses who come work at our company, and just about each one has told me that the orientations i give compared to other nurses are like night and day. i just feel that i could give more encouragement if there was that one thread that focused on the number of questions, and that whatever number you get doesnt mean *anything*. this too is where i can tell people dont understand the basis of the cat testing, which is ok! that is what these boards are here for, to learn and to come to others for enouragement- and to be able to have a thread that tells you exactly what the number of questions you got on the nclex means-
nothing :)
and i do wish all students the best on the nclex and will give them as much encouragement as needed. i do understand where they are coming from and where they will be going, and its a wonderful journey filled with a vast amount of experiences and a great feeling of accomplishment.

Perhaps it's your wording that was interpreted as unkind. You're certainly not under any obligation to read every thread. There are plenty that I skip over.

I have to agree with Tweety. The boards are still several months in front of me and my anxiety level is slowly rising. When I read these posts, I know I'm not the only who frets over this stuff. We need a place to come and express our fears and for those who have been there and done that to tell us that those numbers don't really matter and to take it easy. Expression of fears helps ease them. Reassurance from others is pretty darn nice, too. :)
