Hi, I'm from CT. I will be starting nursing school in September at BHSN.

ME TOO! Are you going days or nights?

I don't usually have time to browse through a bulletin board, but did so on a rare weekend with no schoolwork, and it's a weekend off from work. I came across this post and thought I would add something. I graduated from Three Rivers in 2003 (took A&P there as well) as a non-tradional (older) student. Finished a BS in 2006, though not in nursing. Am finished with 2 out of 3 years in an MSN program (I was allowed to begin classwork prior to finishing the BS, though did not matriculate until I finished the BS). I work night shift in an ER.

My two cents: most posting here are pre-nursing, so I've noticed. But life as a nurse is always about learning. When I was pre-nursing, I had goals, and now, years later, I am starting to actually reach them. So keep the enthusiasm, and always just go for it. 4n608

Hello group! I live in RI, but practice in CT. Don't think I'll run into most

of you though since I work nights in several LTC facilities via agency. I'll be the one staggering into Dunkin Donuts before my commute home in the AM.

hi ...i'm a nursing student who lives in ct but goes to school in mass. this fall i will begin my senior year, thank god! i'm going to take the mass boards and then do reciprosity for ct. i would like to work for one year at the hospice in branford, ct.and then my husband and i are going to move to florida and i'll work down there.

I am Shannon. I just turned 30, married with 3 little ones (the twins are in 1st grade and I have a 3 year old) . I have a BS in Psych and have not used it at all! I have been home for the past couple of years and have decided it was time to have a real income and a career with some flexibility. Originally I thought I would go to school to finish my teaching degree I think I am just spent from having 3 kids and doing daycare at home. Some of my family are nurses and I have always thought it was interesting. I did some research and found this board. At first glance it seemed like a great idea. I decided to take the leap and enroll in STCC for my prereqs. Now I am scared out of my mind that I wont be able to make it in these classes (math has never been my best friend). I recently found the prenurse site and the more I read the more scared I get!

Did the rest of you second guess, third, fourth guess your decision?? Nothing in my backround has prepared me for this leap!

Hello Shannon and :welcome: to allnurses.com. You will enjoy this site but there are things that you may read that will scare you. Remember that people come to this site to vent. Once they over come the bump on their road, they are fine.

I have never been good in math. I am an RN and still not good in math. It doesn't stop me from being a good nurse. If I would of let math run my life I wouldn't have ever become an RN. You need to have faith in yourself. All I can say to you is look at what you have acomplished. You have your BS, if that is not enough motivation for you then I don't know what is. I suggest to start slow. One class or two, since you already have kids. See how you do and move on.

Being a mom of 3 is a great experience that no one will take away. This will help you a lot in nursing. I don't just mean pediatrics but the fact that you are your children advocate is what nursing is all about. Good luck and take it slow you will make it.

;)

Thanks RN I am grateful for your encouragement, I think I psych myself out sometimes since this is complete unknown territory for me. I have a lot of support from my husband and family. Makes me so nervous to start back to college after 10 years, but you have to start somewhere right!! Just hoping it will all work out well. I have submitted an application to Springfield Tech Community College. I live in Enfield so it is the closest for me. They say they get over 500 applicants, only take 100 and those all have great grades on their prereqs. Crossing my fingers

good luck to you

Thanks, need all the help I can get
