I have been browsing this forum for a while and I don't seem to find many people from CT. WHere are you guys. I would love to see how CT. How the hospitals are and how are the nurses there. Please don't be shy sign in.
It was good- thanks for asking :)
Kind of overwhelming with a lot going on. I put in a few requests for hospitals, but we won't know anything for sure until August when they have the schedule made up. There were 6 or so hospitals to choose from, so I hope I get one not too far from where I live!
hello to all!!! I am a class of 2009 nursing student at Norwalk CC...will be traveling all the way from Wolcott, but the ride will be worth it...advice ..apply to as many programs as possible, its quite competetive, up against 500 applicants(on average) per program and only 90-100 spots...other than that I have a question..I hear from a few different friends about a math test in nursing school that you have 2 trys to get a 100 on or else???? My acceptance excitement has worn and now my nerves are setting in....gotta go..summer Lit class..paper to get done...be well to all hopefully there are some nurses out there who can help us out along the way...maybe remind us of the rewards at the end of this journey
Thanks RN I am grateful for your encouragement, I think I psych myself out sometimes since this is complete unknown territory for me. I have a lot of support from my husband and family. Makes me so nervous to start back to college after 10 years, but you have to start somewhere right!! Just hoping it will all work out well. I have submitted an application to Springfield Tech Community College. I live in Enfield so it is the closest for me. They say they get over 500 applicants, only take 100 and those all have great grades on their prereqs. Crossing my fingers
Shanon, Im originally from Mass. STCC is an awesome school. Also in that area is Elms College! GOOD LUCK !

hi! congratulations! i'll be second year at ncc this fall. for the first semester-first year, the math tests are given as much as 3x. some of the main quizzes also include computation problems but only about 2 questions (out of 50). math tests consist of 10 questions, usually involving ratio and proportion and conversion. don't worry, before every math exam, there's usually a set of practice questions and the real exams aren't too different from them. the key is mastering the formula/relationship between the given values. you're good to go once you understand this plus conversion. math tests also do not affect your grade for the term although you'd need to get 100% to PASS and be eligible to go through to the next course.
if there's anything that really i find worrisome... the assigned readings! you'd really need to have the discipline (unless you already have it) to keep abreast with the subject matter. it's so easy to fall behind....more power to you!

I just graduated from STCC and I thought it was awesome! Granted I don't have any other nursing school to compare it to, besides hearing from the other students, and everyone here! The full time professors are really great, and some of the part timers too. And a lot of people coming back to school for a second (or third) career. Good luck!
