  1. It was good- thanks for asking :) Kind of overwhelming with a lot going on. I put in a few requests for hospitals, but we won't know anything for sure until August when they have the schedule made up. There were 6 or so hospitals to choose from, so I hope I get one not too far from where I live!
  2. The book is written by Martini. You might be able to buy a used copy somewhere. I think auditing the course sounds like a great idea! I give you a lot of credit to want to put yourself through that again
  3. Just wanted to let you know that I asked Kirk about Simmons. Apparently he is a Pfizer scientist and will be teaching at TRCC part-time. Kirk said he's a really nice guy, very approachable :)
  4. You absolutely can do it :) I have two children (2 and 5) and will be starting the RN nursing program in August. I was also apprehensive about the sciences courses, but I took them one at a time (took 2 years to finish my pre-reqs but I had some other transfer credits from my English major) and I was able to get through them. If it's that important to you, just make the decision to do it and don't let anyone tell you that you can't (including yourself!). Keep us posted!!
  5. I would guess B.. (this is where I'll put my disclaimer that I don't officially start NS until August!)
  6. Glad to hear that your orientation went well! I can't wait for mine.. it's not until May 30th. I just want to know EVERYTHING! :)
  7. So glad to read your latest post! I hope you get word soon that you're in!! :)
  8. StPauliGirl- I'm so glad that you have some answers now. Good for you for advocating for him and pushing to get the testing done. I can relate to a lot of this thread. I have a 5 year old and a 2 year old, I'm starting nursing school this fall and we will be homeschooling. I know, I think I'm insane :) DH is very supportive and helpful, but it's still going to be a busy busy time. I also had to giggle at the baby who dragged a textbook when she wanted to nurse. There have been many-a-night at our home where dd was nursing and trying to close my A&P book at the same time so my eyes weren't looking at anything but her
  9. Congratulations!! :) Have fun celebrating!
  10. I'm here :) I think a lot of ppl must forget to check the regional boards..
  11. Ok.. for the fall semester, I would definitely recommend Kirk :) I know- the CT forum can be a bit slow. But hopefully it will pick up soon!
  12. How was the orientation? Mine isn't until May 30th (TRCC).. I'll live vicariously through you I can't wait for mine! :)
  13. I'm taking A&P now with Kirk. I've been taking it since September, actually (I in the Fall and II in the Spring). He told us this week that he was taking the summer off for the first time in a long time and I was wondering who was going to cover the classes for the summer.. so you're talking about the summer session, right? I've never heard of Simmons. I don't think he normally teaches there, but I could be wrong. Kirk is great, though. VERY organized class and syllabus. Labs are a bit on-your-own sometimes, but guidance is available if you need it.
  14. Congratulations on making a decision and starting the program at Gateway! It sounds like that's definitely the better fit for you :)
  15. At our school you can take time off due to a pregnancy- maybe the OP was planning that? School with a newborn would be TOUGH. It's so hard to leave them when they're so tiny. I was just talking with someone who took a year off inbetween, so she ended up graduating with the next year. She went to school pregnant, but took a year off when the baby was born. I think she was due in the summer, so it worked ok for her.
