Washing scrubs

Published

Do you wash your scrubs every day after you use them even if they did not get visibly dirty or contaminated? Or do you wear them another day? Sorry if this seems like a stupid question but no one has really ever talked about it!

I wash them every time. Our clinicals are 12 hours, I can't imagine wanting to wear them twice.

I wash them. Bought two uniforms and I swap them out, makes things much easier!

I bought four because I rarely have time to do laundry during the week!

I wash them after every wearing.

I would never rewear a pair of scrubs that hadn't been washed.Yuck

I never wear anything twice, including scrubs. I do A LOT of laundry!

Barrrrrf. Yes, always wash your scrubs. I once got behind on laundry and had to re-wear a scrub top for clinicals, I grossed myself out all day long.

THIS.

When I was in school, I had two scrubs for the clinical days...in PN school, we would have up to 3 clinical days, so I would come home and wash my scrubs on the second day; in my RN program, it was up to 12 hours for two days, and I would still wash my scrubs after clinicals.

I have a ton of scrubs now; however, they go off and into a separate laundry bag after work, and washed on "laundry day" or "laundry time".

After clinical i wash them. If its a class day I wear them again just one more time. Just sitting in a classroom all day. No need to wash it after school.

When you think about it, you wash your hands after all patient contact even when wearing glove, your scrubs come into contact with the same germs after a day of work/clinical.

For that reason I always wash my scrubs after I wear them, even if I go to my hopsital and get cancelled right away (or show up on the wrong day, it's happend like twice!) my scrubs go straight in the laundry when I'm back at home. I won't even go out after work to run errands without changing out of my scrubs.

I am a new grad and was require to wear scrubs during nursing school for clinical days only.

I am not a germaphobe but always thought that once the scrubs left the house, they were "dirty". Even though I had two sets of tops/bottoms, I washed the one set as soon as I got home from the first clinical, so I could wear them the next day. I wouldn't want a student RN or RN to have intentionally come to work with scrubs that had not been washed since the last wearing.
