Waiting to take NCLEX

Published

Hello to everyone.. I've read alot of posts in here and I am nervous like the rest of you waiting to take the NCLEX..I am scheduled for the 16th of Jan. I thought about waiting to take it, but then I was afraid I'd forget some stuff from school..I struggled really hard in school and it was along hard year, but I made it by the grace of GOD !! So now I am going over the Saunders book, but my friend just took it and she said the Saunders didn't help..So now I am freaking out, I'm not sure how to study now..Also I was told that there are several fill in the blank questions !! I'm hoping not or I am in BIG trouble..Any advice would be helpful..Thanks

Tina,

Sorry I didn't scroll back enough to read the other posts...I don't think 85 is bad at all...Go to your Saunders book and read page 11 (if you have the 3rd edition)...it explains pass or fail decisions...Relax...We're here for you!

Tina how did you do on your NCLEX? Im studying for mine and according to Pearson Vue I should have my ATT by Monday .. though my stradegy is a bit different than some, I studied about a month ago.. then w the holidays I took some time off ... Im not going to study until this coming Monday ... because I told myself the sooner I know when my ATT will be here Id give myself about 3 weeks straight 7 days a week studying because I know if I try to pick my day Jan. is probably already booked ... anyway, I hope you did well on your NCLEX....

Reeser i find out tuesday!

I'll keep you posted!

alpha dog thanks and ill look at page 11... i actually do have that book!:specs:

You probably know GI better than the other systems... I studied 1 content area at a time because then you cover everything and its more organized and i "bookmarked" all the questions i got wrong and i didnt use the exam mode i used the study mode!

Thats the advantage of saunders you can save the questions you get wrong its neat! but it isnt at all like the nclex!

so if i fail im sticking to davis

i had 2 questions that were word for word exactly the same as from my davis cd!!!!

well goodnight guys

ill keep you posted

and ill try to relax

thanks again!:redpinkhe

OHHHH I needa get a Davis book!!! Does it come with a CD??

So you find out tomorrow...how exciting!!!! Eagar to hear the results...

The process I used seemed to work since I just passed on my first try.

Here's what you need to do first

Buy these books:

1. NCLEX-PN Questions & Answers Made Incredibly Easy

2. Lippincott's Review for NCLEX-PN

3. Saunders Comprehensive Review for NCLEX-PN

4. Straight A's in Nursing Pharmacology

Getting the latest edition of these is probably best

Our process that worked with about 97% of our school was to basically do 200 questions a day. You start with your best subjects in Incredibly Easy since it's the easiest. Then move onto the next easiest book which would be Lippincotts on the same subject and lastly, do the questions in Saunders, also on the same subject. After all that, you should be an expert on that subject! Grade yourself on every test you take...read all your rationales...just to warn you, when you start out, you will be getting around the 50 or 60 percents. Don't give up...the more you do it, the better your scores will get. After you finish all the subject specific tests, move on to the comprehensive tests. And once you are scoring in the 80's...you should be ready! I followed this process exactly and I passed at 85 on the NCLEX-PN, which is really good. Do this for about 6 weeks or until youve done about 6000 questions. So, say you do 200 a day for 5 days a week....give yourself two days for rest...then you have done 1000 questions a week.

When you finish one subject, start on the next one and do the same thing.

With each subject you do, try studying the pharma on that subject also. It helps to incorporate it in. Read the pink part of the Straight A's in Pharma, and take the test at the end. If you get below a 70%, then read the whole white part.

DO NOT skip pharma. That's probably THE most important thing on the test. I got over a dozen med questions on it. Thank god I studied it.

One more good book for pharma if you have time is Pharmacology Made Easy for NCLEX-PN. It's self explanatory. Read it and do the questions pretty much.

That's really all you need, is just to do question after question and know the rationales for them. It's going to be a lot of work, nursing is not easy...but I wish you luck and I hope my advice comes in handy!

OH AND PS THE PEARSON VUE WEBSITE IS WAY FASTER THAN THE STATES SO THE 7.95 IS WORTH IT!!!! PEARSON TOLD ME I PAST BUT MY NAME STILL ISNT ON THE STATES SITE BUT THEN AGAIN IT HASNT EVEN BEEN 2 BUISNESS DAYS........... I WASNT SUPOSE TO HAVE AN ANSWER UNTILL 11:30AM BUT I FOUND OUT AT 2AM THATS ALMOST HALF A DAY AHEAD!

I took my NCLEX-PN today. I got right at 85 questions and my computer shut off. I am so sick--I don't feel like I did very good. I studied everyday, did practice tests, got my rest, ate healthy, and above all--I had confidence in myself and my ability to pass. Yet, I don't feel too confident now.

I only had 3 pharmacology questions--I answered the question, then it would go onto something completely different. Does it mean I got the question right? My area of difficulty was dietary--got 6 in a row--they were somewhat difficult for me to answer so I don't know if I was getting them right and they were getting harder.

I just hope I got enough to pass. The waiting is making me sick--it has only been 4 hrs. How long before results are usually posted?

Congrats to all of you who have passed!!!!!!!!!!!

TinaColada! Congratulations! Oh, to be sitting where you are right now!

Ugh you guys are making me so nervous! I'm only 20 years old, and I'm ready to begin my career, RIGHT NOW. I havent gotten my ATT yet, and it's driving me nuts. Ive been using the NCBSN review course, and I think it's really helping me out. It basically goes over every section of the test. The pre test before you review is around 200 questions. It's helping me review little by little. I want to be licensed right now! Congrats on all of you who have passed. Especially with the 85. I took a test in school to see if I would pass the exam, and it took me up to 180 questions, the longer the test got, the more nervous I would get. I still passed though with that, strange enough. I'm afraid that'll happen to me again for my test. Does anyone here live in Michigan waiting to take the exam and if they got there ATT yet??
