How would like a nurse on her 11th hour at work taking care of you with a heart attack?
12 hour shifts are dangerous for the patients and bad on the health of the nurses. For those nurses that like it for the extra time off, they are thinking of themselves and not their patients. Nurses are not very bright as a group. I have heard it stated that we need 12 hour shifts because of a nursing shortage. Not very bright huh? Why not demand safe 8 hour shifts and get overtime for everything over 8 hours? 12 hour shifts are for loosers in every way.

To David12... What is your actual job? I'm shaking my head in shock and am quite amused by your response. Unless your goal was to start a little drama on here, it is clear that you are not in the nursing field, otherwise you would not apply stereotypes across the board. Nursing as a whole is not a field to go into for the pay, otherwise the person won't last long. It requires heart, compassion and commitment. To have these qualities, a person typically has these traits for others, not just patients... And especially for ones peers and coworkers. --> "Nurses are not very bright as a group." Regardless of your thoughts on the length of a shift, stating => "12 hour shifts are for loosers in every way." Could potentially give others the impression that you too 'could be a "looser" (loser). If you don't care about or cannot at least be civil or non-judgmental, I'd say your understanding of being a nurse is lacking...

I am looking to quickly and informally get an idea if Hospitals are working primarily 8 hr or 12 hr nursing shifts.
Simply comment 8, 12 or Combo and your state.
I appreciate all replies.
