We can take the results from a physician office dated this calendar year. I have set up a sign up genius with convenient times for me (first hour of morning and last hour of day) parents can sign up for a time and bring them to the campus, wearing a mask. I screen them quickly while parent waits outside or in car - screening takes maybe 3-5 minutes - goes by quickly. So far this has worked for me.
My plan is to make an honest attempt at getting all the Virtual kids through this but am not going to be chasing them down.
We are asking if they have an exam from a doctor from this year. If they refuse to come in we're just documenting how many times we've tried. I like the idea of prioritizing the SPED/504 kiddos. We are also asking the diagnosticians - is it 100% necessary to re-evaluate the hearing and vision? Because for some, it is (if you have speech issues we have to rule out hearing problems). But if the kid has Down Syndrome or diabetes or something that won't change with a report on hearing and vision...this is an unprecedented year, people!!
We haven't yet heard if we are doing screenings and if so how we are doing them. I had imagined just doing those that actually NEED them for 504/ARD and if a teacher notices something off, but otherwise foregoing the mass screenings. Fingers crossed! Can't imagine getting to 500 kids in the middle of COVID.

Our students had the choice of attending a full 5 days or doing everything online. Those virtual learners are still enrolled and considered active students. I'm not sure what to do with them as far as the vision and hearing screenings go. Have you all considered this yet, and if so, what's your plan? Can we ask them to see their physician for screenings or do we just document them as online students and call it done?
