 Violence has erupted in Washington DC as Trump supporters storm the US Capitol Building, with reports of a woman being shot on the Capitol grounds...

...   ABC News has reported shots fired inside the building and CNN reports a woman is in critical condition after being shot in the chest on the Capitol grounds. Virginia is sending the National Guard and 200 state troopers to Washington DC at the mayor's request, Reuters reports.

Earlier, Congress members were forced to leave the building, leaving gas masks on their desks, as the Capitol went into lockdown in response to the invasion...

Unfortunately, I expected something  like this happening in DC due to President Trumps escalating Twitter feeds, "election stolen comments:and heading todays rally which his campaign spearheaded.

Watching this fiasco with my 35 yo son, who now understands fully why I've been so involved in posting political info at AN and for the fist time in 45 yrs got involved with political party to get out the vote as felt democracy at stake.

They arrested nurses and physicians for asking that Single Payer be discussed. Surly the people who still will not obey police officers can be arrested for their blatant rioting and trespassing.

‘Be prepared to get down in your chairs’

Inside the House chamber Wednesday, reporters and lawmakers followed Twitter accounts of the riot unfolding outside the U.S. Capitol, even as a contentious debate unfolded inside over whether to accept Arizona’s electors.

Suddenly, U.S. Rep. Steny Hoyer (D., Md.), the second-ranking Democrat, was whisked off the floor. “This is because of you!” U.S. Rep. Dean Phillips, a moderate Minnesota Democrat, bellowed towards the GOP.

A security official told lawmakers that rioters had made it as far as the rotunda of the Capitol.

“Be prepared to get down in your chairs,” security instructed the lawmakers inside. Debate resumed for a moment, but soon House security said they had fired tear gas in the rotunda. They told lawmakers to take out the “escape hoods” under their chairs. They began locking the doors to the chamber.

House press staff handed reporters silver-wrapped boxes, a bit larger than a lunch box, containing their escape hoods, meant to fend off chemicals. Lawmakers and reporters tore open the packaging, removed the hoods whose vents made a persistent buzzing sound.

Soon after, loud pops. The rioters were breaking the glass to the main doors into the House. Capitol police officers moved bureaus in front of the doors, and pointed their guns outward. Reporters and members of Congress ducked behind chairs in the gallery, waiting.

Maybe a few minutes passed, and Capitol police urged the lawmakers and reporters out. The marble halls were lined with officers with handguns and rifles drawn. A handful of people — apparently some of the rioters — lay flat on the floors of the Capitol.”Quickly! Quickly!” one officer urged everyone evacuating....

 

 

Sedition, traitor, insurrection words heard from many Reps and a Senator today  speaking on CNN, MSNBC, ABC, Fox news.

Some from Congress stating will continue tonight with electorial vote in different secure location.

Jeh Johnson, former Homeland Security Director, confirmed insurrection + sedition--- Admin staff involved should be brought up on charges.

NBC reports woman who was shot has died.

MSNBC reporting: Two explosives defused in Capital building.   RNC headquarters had 1 device disarmed earlier in afternoon and evacuated.

DNC headquarters also evacuated.  Trump Wash DC Hotel  blocked by police.

All DC National Guard called up 1,100 nit already onsite; MD + VA National guard called in after DOD gave approval to come to capital. FBI, Federal Prison guards, etc all called in to clear House and Senate chambers and office buildings.

News reporting that PENCE approved National Guard being called in.

Trump is the National Security Threat that must be contained per many of his former admin team.

Earlier in the day, the president held a rally near the White House, where he repeated his false claims that his loss to Joe Biden was due to vote fraud. At the rally, Trump encouraged protesters to go to the Capitol and support members of Congress who planned to object to some Electoral College votes.

He also tweeted that Vice President Mike Pence, who was presiding over the certification, “didn’t have the courage to do what should have been done to protect our Country and our Constitution.” Pence, who evacuated from the Senate chamber as protesters broke into the Capitol, vowed that they would be prosecuted.
