That was such a sweet touching personal first person account of nursing school in the thirties.
Thanks for sharing.
Wish I'd had the wherewithall to spend time writing all that occurred during nursing school. Perhaps a little more than wet compresses and enemas LOL
Oh, and the part of " almost fainting " when the docs were starting the IV for the blood transfusion, too much!
I like your Nightengale quote Valerie.

I don't know why but I got very choked up watching those videos. Very cool! I like your quote too. It is one we should all remember.

That was absolutely awsome. You could feel it. I loved the part mentioning that "there was nothing wrong with my charting." I finally got to feel that in my last two weeks of peds rotation recently, and that one thing alone I felt great accomplishment. Ironically, those nurse dress uniforms is exactly what I have to wear in four weeks when I graduate. My school in the south is very old fashioned and keeps things parallel with nursing of 7 decades ago. True "old school." Enjoyed these videos so much.

Anybody notice the class went from eight to six by graduation? And those caps...hehe...a good strong wind and Alfreda would fly away
I loved the videos....I love the white dresses and hose. Remember when white hose were ONLY worn by nurses??
What a great tribute by a wonderful loving granddaughter :)

i really, really enjoyed that, val.
couldn't believe that doc left (student) nurse to deliver baby...
and it died (or was stillborn?).
also loved the use of the words "queer" and "keen".
and finally...
i want to go back to us wearing whites!!
