hmmm...I sympathize with you. I did A&PII about seven years ago and I had a fear that I would not be a nurse before the tenth year and God put me where I belong. I believe you should speak to your advisor about this matter. If He/She is as nice as mine, you will be okay.

if the class isn't going to be offered at your school i would think you would be able to get an exception to policy. i really don't think they would force you to drive to another city. ask to file a request for exception to policy and see what happens. worst that could happen is that it is denied and you are back where you started. good luck.

that's what i was hoping for if it came down to worst case scenario, but i kind of have a feeling they don't want to do that. i thought maybe i could suggest taking micro now and a&p ii next semester...i will have to ask them if they really don't offer the class in the fall but i don't know if they will go for it.

i was able to register online today for a&p ii for the second summer semester that starts next month (very unlikely to happen but a slot opened up), but the only problem with that is that it will mess up my job royally. it meets all morning mon-thurs. i will have to hope that they let me change my job schedule around at work. i was going to have to request that in the fall anyway but was hoping to avoid it this summer. humm. problems problems.

If you know who the professors are for A&P, or when you find out, contact them and ask if they can get you in. Explain your situation. Alot of them are sympathetic, and realize that alot of people will generally drop out of their class later (even in the first weeks sometimes).

My nursing program wouldn't let us register for our classes - THEY picked our classes for us. I had already registered for A&P II, and it was my last pre-req, and I really wanted to get it out of the way before beginning clinicals. I had to drop it after finding out that the NP registered us for our nursing classes, and by the time they got me registered, all the A&P II classes were full. I just called my professor and explained my situation, and he let me in, no problem. Good luck to you!

Hi KAR38, I also sympathize with you in your current situation especially due to the fact that I was pretty much in the same situation as you. At our school, we have to be eligible for a basic level Math class or have already taken it by the time we start the nursing program. Well, let's just say I had been running as far away as I could from Math in the midst of taking my prerequisites; I was more concerned with getting A&P I and II, and Micro completed that I didn't have time for a Math at the time. Then BAM! I end up running dead smack into it this summer term! So I ended up having to take it at another school due to schedule conflicts which was also 20-30 minutes away just so that I'd have a Math class before the Fall program rolls around. I have to admit though, so far it's actually not as bad as I imagined it to be.

Furthermore, in your case, I'd go ahead and register for the class that's 20 minutes away and if you're coming for only one class as a transient student they shouldn't need your transcripts, etc. Only a transient letter should suffice, but I suppose every college may have different procedures. It's still great though that you're able to take A&P II for the second summer term, but I would mainly suggest the other class 20 minutes away so your work schedule isn't compromised. Another thought is to get an over-ride request from the instructors of the class that is closed if at all possible. Of course the main thing is to take A&P II now to have out of the way prior to starting the program.
