VENT--no call after my interview.

Did you send out thank you notes to the manager and panel after the interview? How many times have you called? How long did you wait to call? Keep after them. If anything, you need to have this resolved so you can move on.

It's possible they could still be processing. =/ I'm not a nurse myself, but I've heard several stories where people were saying that HR took FOREVER to get back to them. So just keep after them until you find out; least that's what I think.

i am not sure but in my case, the NM kinda gave me a clue that he is hiring me when he said to wait for the call of HR for further instructions for the next step. HR called me but it took a while like 3 weeks. but i keep on following up to them to make sure they didnt forget me. i always make sure that i talked to them not just leave a message.

The whole hiring process is well, a process. I was offered an interview but it took 2 months before I finally was able to get a little face time with the manager. Luckily for me, they told me that i should hear something from HR within a couple of days. HR called me at 9am the next morning. So either the sun/moon/stars were in alignment or i was just plain lucky.

I sent out a thank you note to the hiring manager that day. I spoke with her several times over the phone and email before this interview, so I knew her name and information. When I walked into the interview and was introduced, I tried to write down the names of the rest of the panel, but I was told not to worry about it, as they wanted to start the interview. No way was I going to disagree, so we started the interview. So I couldn't send them all personal notes since I couldn't remember their names, and I had no idea it was to be a panel interview until I walked in the room.

I emailed the hiring manager last Tuesday and Friday, and I called and left a message for HR on Wednesday. I absolutely do not want to be a pest and bombard them with phone calls, so I've been holding back. But it's just so unprofessional to tell me that I will be contacted by a certain day and then ignore all efforts on my part to communicate with them once that day has passed.

I've started sending out my resume again. I'm almost ready to take an LTC job I was offered. At least they called me back in a timely manner and showed some professional courtesy.

I hate when you go on an interview and they don't call back. I went on one about a month ago. Said they would pass my resume and information on to the hiring manager and set up a second interview at the end of week. I did not hear back from them that friday, so monday I called left a message and an email. Still no response, so I called back that Friday and spoke with the nurse manager. She said she was going on vacation, but would review my information the following week and get back to me. It has been three weeks since then, and I just moved on. Had 2 interviews this week, hope one of them works out.

How rude. Seems like we all jump through hoops and can't even get a polite rejection email that takes 2 minutes to copy, paste, and send. Ignoring and hoping the new grad goes away seems to be the standard. I'm sorry that they behaved this way and I hope you get that job in LTC.

When prospective employers treat me in this manner I just move on to the next one, taking into consideration that I won't be so quick to apply to that particular employer again.

Unfortunately, it's a buyers' market, so they can choose and discard the best of us without a second thought...or a rejection notice. It sucks that they haven't gotten back to you. I don't know what your financial situation is--if it's stable and you really want this ED job, then I'd say consider holding out a little longer (a week or so) to see if they get back to you. Otherwise, I wouldn't wait on them--start looking elsewhere.

And I agree with Caliotter3: I also wouldn't be so quick to reapply there, because in my experience, how you are treated during the interview process often reflects how you'll be treated as an employee.

If you'd really like to work for the ED hospital, you might call their HR person one more time & let them know that you have an offer from another facility. You'd really like to work for them blahblahblah, but need to know for sure if they'll be offering you a position yes or no, otherwise you'll need to start your nursing career elsewhere.

Unfortunately, your experience is not at all unusual. I went for several interviews, one of which was also for ER. I interviewed in May, sent followup letters & all that jazz, but heard nothing....for 2 months. In late July, I finally got a standard rejection email. By then, I'd already started a new grad RN Residency program elsewhere (an am loving it!).

Many potential employers do not tend to treat candidates in a professional manner. They expect to snap their fingers & watch you jump through hoops, making vague promises about getting back to you "by the end of next week." This is after you've driven hours to the interview(s) without reimbursement for mileage or anything else. The end of next week comes & goes, and you never hear back from them.

Unprofessional slackers.
