Vanderbilt Pre-Specialty Applicants 2014

Hey everyone! I couldn't find this thread anywhere so figured that I would start one for all of us who applied to Vanderbilt's Pre-Specialty Entry program (for non-RNs) this fall. I applied for the PMHNP specialty. What about you?! :)

I'm wait listed too. The admissions lady told me that after they have people decline their acceptance they look at everyone on the wait list and choose the strongest applicants to fill the vacant spots. And they might not let us know until JULY!!! So here's to more waiting...

I wouldn't worry about the 'bible belt' thing. In my experience, Nashville is very accepting of people despite appearance or religion or whatever. As far as tattoos, probably half the population of Nashville has tattoos. So I wouldn't worry about that either.

Good grief! I can't wait that long... I don't know how they can expect people to wait that long. Guess I'll be going with my other option. Best of luck to all those accepted!!!

I was told there could be movement from the wait list after the deposit deadline in April and also when financial aid packages are released, but some people back out as late as summer.

Congrats to those who were accepted! And to those still waiting to hear or wait listed, keep your chin up! I've also heard that Vanderbilt makes it's way through the wait list pile at a pretty good pace. Also if you haven't joined the Facebook group yet, there are a few people deciding between 2-3 different schools. So it's not like everyone who has been accepted to Vandy is actually going to attend! There's still lots of hope!

I called today to find out that I got waist listed for FNP pre-specialty. This helps me make my decision for another school a lot easier, but I asked what the possibility is of getting off the waitlist into the program and the lady in admissions told me that no one moved off of the waitlist for FNP last year (which I found a little odd). I hope that is not the case for those of you hoping to get in. Good luck to everyone!

Has anyone received anything official, either on the application page or in the mail? (besides psych and CNM who got phone calls right after their interviews?)

I received an email saying my application status had changed mid week last week and my official snail mail letter didn't arrive until Saturday. I was accepted to Direct Entry Pediatric Acute Care. I was sort of disappointed by the small amount of information actually sent to us... I'm ready to get the ball rolling and order books, pay tuition, etc! Congrats to everyone on their acceptances :) Anyone still waiting, my application didn't update, it still said "submitted" so I actually had to view the application and click on "Application update" Any other Pediatric people out there?

I know that Vanderbilt's program technically doesn't have an application deadline, but realistically speaking, would there be any hope for me if I applied now? I would be applying for the AGAC-NP specialty track, so I'm not sure how competitive that one is, or if they even have any unfilled spots remaining in the class for this upcoming fall.

Most decisions have already been made and waitlists compiled, and it seems that even people who applied slightly after the deadline but before the first round of faculty review are having a hard time getting in, so to be honest it's probably a waste of your application fee to apply right now. If your heart is set on Vandy, I think the next application cycle opens in the early fall. I'm sure some of us attending this coming year will be able to report back with more info on the program or application process if you have questions when applying next time around.

I applied on the deadline and my application is still "being reviewed". As time goes on I am less and less optimistic about my chances.
