  1. I called today to find out that I got waist listed for FNP pre-specialty. This helps me make my decision for another school a lot easier, but I asked what the possibility is of getting off the waitlist into the program and the lady in admissions told me that no one moved off of the waitlist for FNP last year (which I found a little odd). I hope that is not the case for those of you hoping to get in. Good luck to everyone!
  2. Ames78 & lddt19 - same here except I called and they said to check back next week. I wonder if FNP pre-specialty are the last to find out.
  3. hey everyone - i haven't been on this thread, but i applied to Vanderbilt for FNP pre-specialty and have been following your guys post. ya'll made me so antsy that i ended up biting the bullet and called just now. she said there is still no decision on my application yet and that i should call back next week. this is killing me. i've been accepted to columbia and a lot of things are due for them within the next month that i don't want to put off until last minute waiting for Vanderbilt's decision. so stressful!
  4. Hi All - I applied to BC for the FNP track and have yet to hear back. Are decisions emailed usually by now? I received an acceptance to Columbia already but getting nervous about BC.
  5. Hii Newmy123 - I am originally from southern CA but have been living in Brooklyn for the past 2 years.
  6. I am in for the FNP program!!!
  7. I guess I am not the only one checking my email like a maniac these days!
  8. Hi Everyone - I too am applying for the ETP Program for 2014, the FNP route at Columbia, but will also be applying to Vanderbilt and Boston College. I am retaking the GRE on wednesday since my math scores were really sad I still have to finalize most of my personal statements, as well as get letters of rec back from some. I am completely stressing out! Nov. 15th is right around the corner.
  9. kdiem - I'm looking into FNP tracks.
  10. Thanks Meep and Hopeful! Hopeful - I took general chem many many moons ago (back in 05) and hate the thought of having to retake it plus another on top as well. How long is the program at Emory then for the BSN-MSN?
  11. No problem Meep, hopefully you can get the book on time! The instructor I had for the course was not a very good one (in my opinion) but the class is super easy. I'm not applying to programs until this coming fall as I am in Anat and Physio now and still have Microbiology left to take but after all this talk about Emory on this board I did some research. Emory doesn't have an accelerated MSN program for applicants who hold bachelors in other areas do they? I think I just saw they had the accelerated BSN. Just doing all my research now :) Now if only I could force myself to start studying for the GRE....ugh.
  12. Meep - I took my developmental psych class online from Barton Community College in Kansas even though I live in CA. It's only $133 a unit there and you have the opportunity to do it either in 9 weeks or 18 weeks. I did mine in 9 and it was an easy A. The semester starts tomorrow so you might be able to still register and get in if you make it quick!
  13. I am in the stage of taking most of the pre-requisites for a couple of direct entry MSN programs I am interested in for becoming an FNP. I am looking into Vanderbilt, Boston College and Columbia (my top 3) and have been doing research on a couple of other schools right now as backup options. I got my bachelor's degree in Fashion Design from a university in california awhile ago and have been trying to enroll in Anat & Physio and Micro at local community colleges but all of these classes fill up first and since I have not taken any classes at the community colleges my registration date is too late to even make the waitlist for these classes! I don't want to go spending money on classes I don't need to get a better registration date. I am toying with the idea of taking Anat & Physio online during Spring 2013 but I know there are some schools that will accept it and some that won't. Out of my top 3 choices I know that Vanderbilt and Columbia accept online classes but does anyone know if Boston College does? I am just slightly bummed that I've been trying to get into these classes at local colleges and haven't had any luck which then pushes back me applying to schools and limits my school choices. Anyone know other schools that accept online science classes that include labs but aren't considered wet labs that are accelerated MSN programs for FNP specialty?
  14. Hi Gina - I am fairly certain they make their decisions in February and let everyone know sometime that month. I don't want to be giving out any false information on this thread though so I think if you are concerned about the PACE CDP program I would just give the admissions office @ Columbia a call and ask them directly. Their admissions office # is (800)899-8895. Jenna
  15. Hey All - My name is Jenna, I am from CA originally but moved to NY in January of this year. I currently hold a bachelors degree in Fashion design and work in the fashion industry now, however I want to make a career change to nursing and become a FNP. I started doing the research recently when I came across Columbia's ETP program and I know for sure this is what I want to do. I have been studying like a mad man for the GRE since I know I am very bad at taking standardized tests. They look for 50th percentile or higher @ Columbia for admissions so I am hoping I can give myself enough time to retake the GRE if needed. My academics are in very good standing, graduating with an overall 3.7 GPA from my undergrad. I will be taking 3 pre-requisites in the fall, anat & phys and statistics which will leave me with the microbiology to take in the spring semester. I know I can write a decent personal statement and get some good letters of rec, but the one thing I am worried about is the resume/CV seeing as how almost all of my experience is fashion related. I will be starting to volunteer this week but I am worried that it might be too little too late compared to other applicants. I managed to attend the first information session on the ETP program in which they shared quite a bit of information. So to answer Daniel's question above about early admissions, they are not doing that this year. There will be one deadline for the application, Oct 15th. They will, of course, make the application available earlier and encourage everyone to get their application in earlier rather than later. Best of luck to everyone! Jenna
