Vanderbilt Pre-Specialty Applicants 2014

Published

Hey everyone! I couldn't find this thread anywhere so figured that I would start one for all of us who applied to Vanderbilt's Pre-Specialty Entry program (for non-RNs) this fall. I applied for the PMHNP specialty. What about you?! :)

I submitted mine on dec 4 because I was waiting on a doctor to do my LOR. Smh. Such is life.

i submitted by the priority date (i just called to double check) and they told me i would hear back in 2 weeks.

I just called. Waitlisted!

At the open house they made a point to say that their waitlist was a short one that was "reasonable". I assume that means that many on that waitlist end up getting to attend. Has your online status changed from submitted to waitlisted?

Congratulations!

Thanks! And no, the decisions have not yet been entered into the computer.

Ok, I'm going to try to word this very carefully so I don't get into trouble.

when you guys call about your application status, which office do you call? Undergrad admissions? Graduate admissions? Or a special nursing school office?

I just called. Waitlisted!

NMW has a certain amount of guaranteed clinical placement sites (somewhere between 20 and 30), and they only admit exactly enough people to fill those sites. So the number of students admitted outright is lower than some schools, but the waitlist moves faster because for every offer declined they do want to fill that clinical spot. Once financial aid info is released for most schools, I expect there will be an increase in waitlist movement. Good luck!

Congrats!! We're in the same boat!

I just called. Denied. Best of luck everyone.

It does say Dec. 1st, but all of my materials were not in until later that month, so that's probably the discrepancy. And I have not interviewed, no one has even looks at my application yet though. Did you interview CNMHopeful? Also, since people are already getting put on the wait list for my specialty, I'm definitely not getting my hopes up.

Best of luck to you wsc404! Since I've gotten to know more and more people on this forum I think we will all end with our best-fit program :) Vandy is one of the toughest schools to get into.. congrats to all that were accepted! But those of us that weren't should absolutely keep our heads high - we will be just fine!

I did interview but I was in with the priority applicants. My hopes are also not up. I interview terribly over the phone!
