Vanderbilt Pre-Specialty Applicants 2014

Published

Hey everyone! I couldn't find this thread anywhere so figured that I would start one for all of us who applied to Vanderbilt's Pre-Specialty Entry program (for non-RNs) this fall. I applied for the PMHNP specialty. What about you?! :)

I called yesterday about PMHNP and found out that I got accepted! The admissions officer was very helpful and nice :)

As others have mentioned, she told me that letters will be going out in the next couple of days.

Woo hoo! So glad this wait is finally over... anyone else going to the open house this weekend? I booked a very last-minute trip haha.

Tracytracy, thank you! I'm glad I'm not the only one (:

I called the School of Nursing and they transferred me to admissions where the lady was incredibly nice and very happy to look me up. I am a pre-specialty applicant for CNM/FNP and my application is still "under review" with no decision at all. Congrats to everyone who got in or wait listed and people still waiting, I feel your pain!

I'm CNM/FNP and also called. Still no decision. Good grief.

Ugh. I called admissions and they were RUDE!! Would not look anything up for me, just said the letters haven't gone out yet. Glad those of you who called weren't shot down the way I was. Strike one Vandy....guess I will wait for my letter, but I am totally turned off.

I just called the admissions office for my decision and was told they are working on sending letters today. When I asked if I could get my decision over the phone like they have been doing for so many other applicants the lady said in a rather rude and abrupt tone that they are very busy getting the letters out and do not have time to look up everyone's decisions.

I realize everyone is anxious and they have been very nice about helping everyone that has called in, BUT have you all thought about how every time they have to answer the phone it keeps them from processing the letters?!!! Here's my understanding...they are currently processing letters & they will begin going out this week via U.S. mail. Once a letter goes out your online application status will change and you can go in & view your decision. I hope this helps.

Thanks for this SunnyGirl, I'm ok with waiting especially if my online status will be updated but was just taken aback when I received kind of a rude response when others on this forum said how nice and accommodating they were when they called. Was not expecting that.

Called the admissions office with my reference number; the lady was happy

to look me up and said I was accepted to the PMHNP program! She also apologized for not sending out the Laters already .... Apparently there was a glitch of some sorts .....

see you at the open house

Bummer, but looking at this stream plus others, soooo many people have already called in and they were correct that every time they have to pick up the phone & stop what they are it delays them getting the letters out. I am sure they are frustrated, every time I have spoke with their office they have been so helpful & very nice.

new to posting here, but have been following this thread religiously...

I'm a prespecialty NMW/FNP applicant. I actually called admissions about a week and a half ago to get a decision. I called because I had a school that wouldn't extend their deposit deadline and I didn't want to lose that "big" money. When I called they were really nice, happy to help me out, and super apologetic about the system mix-up. However, I was specifically told that until other applicants had received their decisions, they did not want anyone to broadcast that some decisions had already been made. Their main concern was people getting stressed and anxious unnecessarily (like we would do that?!?), but also because they didn't want every applicant calling in. I didn't even tell my family cause my sister is way too "facebook-active"! Point being, they are super helpful, but I don't think they love the calls. If you do have a special situation though (like the applicant who was leaving the country, sorry I can't find the username) I bet if you call and explain it to them they'll do everything in their power to help you.

Congrats to everyone already in, and best of luck to those still waiting.
