Hello! Hope you're all doing well, thank you for all the info!

I am applying for the Adult-Gerontology Acute Nurse Practitioner program for Fall 2019 in hopes of getting into transplant. I have ~4 years of organ/tissue transplant experience and also EMT-B experience. Also applying from Los Angeles! Former Bruin, if anyone else came from UCLA.

I am wondering if anyone else applied to this program and if so, does it require an interview?

Thank you!

I applied for that program as well! Good luck to you!

Hi jkoby,

I am a current student in the AG-ACNP program graduating in August. It does not require an interview. If you have other questions I am happy to help. I received a lot of help on this forum when I first applied.

Are you doing local or distance? How are you feeling so far about the pace of the program? (3 semesters seems so fast!! - for the BSN-MSN)

Hi!

If you don't mind me asking, what kinds of questions were you asked in your interview? Mine is tomorrow afternoon!

I'm sorry! I didn't get an email when you posted this. I hope your interview went well.

dalaneyjaney,

I am local, direct entry, and part time ( because I work full time, and have two young kids). The pace is rough for my friends who are full time. I don't know of anyone who has been able to maintain a job with the full time program. It's been described by many like drinking out of a firehose, but the faculty are great and everyone wants you to be successful.

My biggest concern about the Vandy program is the amount of traveling you have to do for clinicals. I am wondering how students are able to pay to live in Nashville when they need to travel 4+ hours away for some clinicals. Anyone in the program now have insight about this?

I have an interview for the PMHNP program tomorrow at 1 pm. Has anyone else gotten an email? I got mine on the 4th!

Same here! Mine is on Thursday. Are you prespecialty? Or direct entry? Also what group were you in for the interviews?

I am prespecialty and in group 2. What about you? I am so nervous, but from what I’ve heard it will just be a casual conversation with not really hard questions.

I’m a direct entry student. I’m also nervous as well. I feel my chances are low because my overall gpa is a 3.4 although my nursing Gpa is a 3.5. Goodluck on your interview!

I doubt that. I’ve heard it’s a good sign to get a phone interview. Not everyone does so I’m sure you are fine. Thank you and good luck to you as well!

I didn’t get an email for psych ?

Have any Adult Gerontology Acute Care Pre-specialty program applicants been interviewed? When I asked admissions they said sometimes applicants are interviewed and sometimes they are not... kinda vague. Any insight would be appreciated!
