Vanderbilt MSN 2016

I haven't seen a thread yet for 2016 hopefuls, so I thought I'd start one. After much research and changing my mind back and forth, I decided to go for the Vanderbilt MSN. I would be direct entry as I already have my BSN. I finally decided on Pediatric Primary Care. I'm just worried about getting a job after graduation as I'm not really seeing much in the way of openings in the Nashville area--which is where I live.

I just finished up my BSN and I'm currently finishing up my application for the direct entry FNP program. I obviously missed the priority deadline, but it's still worth applying. Admissions told me they will send out acceptance letters in mid-february for the FNP program. Good luck to everyone!

Hey, at the open house, did they talk about the number of application they typically receive and how many they will accept for FNP?

300 applicants and 60 are accepted.

they are only going to look at your appliction after going over all applications received before the deadline so make sure you apply to other programs

Thanks for the info. All other programs I am interested in require nursing experience before the application deadline. So I figure it's still worth a try. If not this year, I will try again next year!

I just got an email today with an invite for an interview, CNM prespecialty. Wonder why a few folks heard a few days earlier?? Guess I have to start preparing now!!

Hi koreanbraves - I applied as a PreSpecialty FNP and haven't heard anything yet (other than the email I received on 11/30 stating that my application was in the 1st cohort of students to be reviewed for fall 2016). As soon as I receive any news (good or bad!) I'll post on this message board. Best of luck to you!
