I haven't seen a thread yet for 2016 hopefuls, so I thought I'd start one. After much research and changing my mind back and forth, I decided to go for the Vanderbilt MSN. I would be direct entry as I already have my BSN. I finally decided on Pediatric Primary Care. I'm just worried about getting a job after graduation as I'm not really seeing much in the way of openings in the Nashville area--which is where I live.
Everyone should keep in mind when we all applied and were interviewed as well! I applied in October and was interviewed early December and was accepted yesterday. So remember that we are all in different "pools" based on when we applied.
I was in the confirmed early application group, so I should be hearing now. I just tried to call the admissions office and the phone won't even ring, lol.
I just called admissions, the phone was ringing off the hook and I had to be placed on hold several times. They told me my app is still in the process of being reviewed but to keep checking my email because I should be hearing something "very soon". I didn't have the heart to ask how soon, ha! So, let's all just TRY to be patient, I know that is sometimes a challenge for us nurses, especially when it comes to such a life altering thing such as acceptance into Grad school. I also received the financial aid letter but if you read it they sent it to every prospective student who has "shown interest."
Can anyone confirm that Vanderbilt's dual NM/FNP program is only 8 semesters? I just got accepted to that program, but also got into Emory's dual program, which is 9 semesters. It's strange to me that one is longer. Also, does anyone know if we get a "nursing scholarship" if that is per semester, per year, or if it's a one-time grant? I can't tell if we can still apply for the three full scholarships that Vanderbilt offers. So confusing!

helenclark, I was also accepted to both programs. Emory is longer because you are awarded a BSN, which is not part of Vanderbilt's program. The BSN would allow you the flexibility to work as a nurse before continuing onto the MSN portion of the program. Just depends on what you are looking for in your education!

Theory possibly debunked!
Okay...what specialty though??
ETA, nevermind, just saw you are FNP :)
Just wondering if they could be rolling through alphabetically by specialty...
I'm S in AG-ACNP. Who knows.
