Vanderbilt MSN 2015

Published

Hello,

I am applying for the MSN program in '15, due in December. I was wondering if anyone knew how much weight the GRE holds, in regards to being competitive? I am a little nervous about my scores not being competitive. Any advice will help!

Best regards,

What did you apply for?

Midwifery

Maybe somebody can help me understand what is going on. First and foremost, I applied for the PMHNP program.

Ok, so admissions told me that I would here back after a meeting on the 14th. However, at a later date admissions said that this meeting is actually on January 7th and administration prefers those who answer the phones to say the 14th so applicants will not call so much. After I received this information admissions said for me to call back Friday, January 9th and they may have some information. I called and admissions said that it is still in review and the committee has a meeting every two weeks. To which I replied, "So I won't be reviewed till January 21st?" Admissions said no that's not what that means and I could hear back any day. *** is going on? I'm very confused about these "meetings" and what their purpose is if I could get a response even if my application was not reviewed on the 7th.

I mostly care about the timeliness because I am taking clinical social work courses and I don't wanna drop 4k unnecessarily. So if anybody can clarify what is going on that would be helpful.

That's a bummer, man. How long do you have before you have to spend the money? Is there a drop/add period?

If I were in your shoes, I'd let Vanderbilt know what you're up against and also talk to someone at the other school/program, especially if the $ is due before January 14th and the drop/add period comes up quick or they are super harsh with refunds. Maybe they'll be flexible with you. My philosophy is, "Doesn't hurt to ask... the worst thing they can say is no, and they might say yes!" :)

Good luck, man! Got my fingers crossed for all of us!

Yeah I have till the 16th. I assume I should know by then, but I thought I would know a couple of weeks ago so who knows, right?

Yeah I'm concerned that the 14th is another soft deadline since they said that's the last meeting and then they'll start notifying people. If they do more snail mail it could be another week (between formatting, double checking and the actual mailing - definitely not quick) at worst.

I had similar thoughts, snoozyd. I'm giving it until January 21st, a full week from this 'meeting' on the 14th, to allow time for printing the letters, snail mail, etc. before I lose the last of my sanity. Also, I really don't understand the method of delivery inconsistencies: phone calls, emails, snail mail? It seems the nursing school as a unified body would agree on a singular method and stick to it. I'm tired of my heart skipping a beat whenever my phone rings, an email arrives and the mail is delivered.

Everyone still hanging in there? Psych pre-specialty here. Still haven't heard anything. I thought I'd be able to forget about it and stop stressing, but I find myself checking this forum/email/application constantly!

I called today, still no update. I get confused after each phone call but they might be doing some interviews for the PMHNP program. If anybody else wants to call and clarify that would great.

Are you kidding me!? I have an email dated 12/15/14 from the admissions program coordinator (BR) saying very clearly there wouldn't be any pre-specialty psych interviews. I'm starting to think PMHNP may not all hear back until early next month.

I could be mistaken, but it seemed to me that there were some interviews being conducted.
