Vanderbilt MSN 2015

Published

Hello,

I am applying for the MSN program in '15, due in December. I was wondering if anyone knew how much weight the GRE holds, in regards to being competitive? I am a little nervous about my scores not being competitive. Any advice will help!

Best regards,

Don't give up hope, guys!! I'm positive that more notifications will come out today!

I applied and submitted my application in early October; I'm not sure if that had to do with anything as far as getting my acceptance letter so quickly.

I got accepted in PNP as well! I can't believe it! Congrats to everyone else that has found out!

Congrats to everyone who has been accepted!!!

I called admissions yesterday and wanted to share with those of you who are (like me) applying to the MSN/FNP program direct entry (already have a BSN). The admissions lady said "FNP is notorious for taking their sweet time, they are always the last program to make decisions." She was quite friendly and told me to try calling her again after Christmas.

This waiting is torture!!!

Congrats to everyone who has been accepted!!!

Thanks for calling and finding that out! :)

I really hope one of us prespecialty PMHNP hears soon! The wait is excruciating, especially since I haven't seen anyone from my specialty getting any decisions.

wanderlust09, what's rent like in Nashville? I checked Craigslist but I couldn't get a sense of the range.

Snoozyd, I paid around $1000 for a one bedroom in Bellevue (10-15 min commute) last year. My friends who lived downtown paid in the $1250-1500 range for the same size. If you're interested in a roommate(s), you can likely get a three bedroom fairly close to Vanderbilt around West End for about $800 a piece.

As far as good places to live in Nashville, my husband and I lived out in Bellevue and really liked it. It's about a 10-15 minute commute to Vandy depending on traffic. There are several parks with great walking/running trails, plenty of restaurants and shopping nearby. Mt. Juliet and Hermitage are also good places to consider, but you're going to experience *much more* traffic living on the East side compared to the West side of Nashville. If you're hoping to be within walking distance of school, there are a variety of condo and apartment options close to Vanderbilt that are in safe and walkable areas with access to lots of shopping and eateries. You're just going to pay more due to location. Hope that helps!

10-15 minutes is not bad at all. I live in the Puget Sound area of the PNW and traffic is almost always a pain in the neck. We're going to start looking for places in the next couple of weeks.

I currently live on West End for about $1200 a month, but I'm going to move to a cheaper apartment in Green Hills in the summer time way before school starts in August. I like working overtime, but I definitely won't be able to do that anymore when autumn rolls around. I am going to continue working full-time weekends at VUMC while going to school part-time for the next two years. I absolutely love my unit and VUMC, and I am so ecstatic that I will be going to VUSN. This program was my first and only choice.

Woohoo, they sent some more decisions today! :) Best of luck to those of you checking email and keeping fingers crossed....

Also, in terms of neighborhoods, I've heard people talk about East Nashville being artsy and fun.
