Anyone else going through the VA's long and tedious process? Lets connect here and support each other. Much luck to you all!
Hello Ya'll! I applied to the VA NYC via Indeed and was called by a recruiter the next day! A few days went by and I was asked to finish VetPro within 3 days on this past Saturday night; I finished it after a few hours. Couldn't wait until today; I called the recruiter to alert her that I was finished with VetPro and she was actually surprised. She just said that she "will look into it," I thanked her, and we hung up. My initial question was if there was a timeline until I am hired; I am a dialysis RN and I received an astronomical COVID pay rate for 4 months (I hope that I could stay there. I am also a disabled vet).

Hi! I also applied to the VA in Bronx NY but for the telephone triage temp position. My application was referred as of last week but I haven't anything else. Will you keep me posted on the process if you hear anything? And I'll do the same. Thank you

How did your resignation go over? When is you start date? I’ve called HR but they don’t ever pick up... manager told me I should hear something “shortly” from HR with firm offer and start date...

Hey guys, for those of you that were offered an "expedited hiring" d/t COVID, did you guys get a TEMPORARY position that will turn into a PERMANENT position after one year? Or did you get a permanent position from the getgo?
Thanks!
I was offered permanent. I was not offered the step 2 step 12 or any of those incentives. I was also offered a relocation incentive though. I start in a week.

I have a feeling they are giving all the new hires the maximum grade and step to cover for the surge/crisis pay that other hospitals are offering. The hospital I will be leaving from was giving us all $20 an hour extra for crisis pay. IDK will have to wait and find out.
Have you started yet? Did they offer you a temporary position that will turn into a permanent one after the board has determined your final grade/step or after one year?

Seems like you were boarded prior to the VA starting the whole covid expedited hiring deal... either way it sounds like a great place to work! Hope you have a great start!

Thanks, I am very excited. Been applying for 15 years, no joke LOL
Much luck to you too, I think once you have your foot in the door you will be permanent. I can’t think of a reason why they would invest all that time and money not to.

I was not offered anywhere near that and have 15+ years experience and an MSN. The pay is all over the place from what I read and hear.
How are they going to re-evaluate the pay? That’s kinda crazy if you take a job then your pay is drastically potentially cut?
Either way, I am glad I even made it in and was offered a job at the VA. Not the best pay but I will have to have 2 jobs to make ends meet.
