I had my fingerprints done Monday. How long did that process take for you all? I had my interview mid April.

It all depends on how bad your particular VA needs you. There is no one answer that fits all to this, unfortunately... It also depends on if you are hired for an expedited position or not.

I did my fingerprints last week and was sent the link for EQIP this week. I completed it the very next day. Now with the federal holiday coming up next week, I don't really expect to hear anything until in two weeks. My physical is scheduled for mid-June. I am hoping that by that time fingerprints and EQIP have resulted and I get a fast start date.

It seems like you are moving fast if you interviewed in April! I interviewed in January, just to give you some perspective.

What is your location or VA you have applied to? Maybe someone on here can give more detail about that particular VA.

VA POSITION

Hello, I have a question I applied for a position with the VA in February I got a call in April for an interview and afterwards about 2 weeks later I got a call saying I was selected .. I had my pre employment physical on Tuesday May 26th , I did fingerprints, blood work, e-qip and my picture for my work badge, my question is, what is next? When should I expect a call back?

I applied February 6th

application closed February 19th

got a call to setup interview on April 7th

phone panel interview April 10th

tentative offer letter May 1st

pre employment physical (bloodwork, picture for badge, fingerprints, eqip) May 26th

HOW MUCH LONGER !!

Hello,

Can anyone share any info on VA Extended care/community living centers? I received firm offer today and took it, but the whole process was extremely fast for VA standards and I am not even sure what shift and what hours I will work.

Anyone was hired for temp position for Covid and already started?

I was offered the same. The manager said it was for CLC but also overflow med-surg with expedited hiring process. 80 hrs pay period and night shift. HR said it would likely take 3 weeks to get processing done to get start date. Did you apply for the other permanent positions? I was offered temp and was just referred for another permanent position.

Did you go to orientation/started? Or you will wait to do the other permanent position?

HR could not really confirm the shift, I only told them I can't take night. I am starting on Monday, which is the day I told HR I am available. I did not even do VetPro yet. Probably they are really in need. And maybe the fact that I am a recently separated veteran helped a little.

I applied to some positions, but I was only referred for one temp position. This recruiter contacted me because I applied to Travel Nurse Corps position back in November 2019. I really hope I can transition to something permanent after this assignment (which is 120 days).

No orientation yet. They’re doing my vetpro and they want detailed version of my resume to determine my salary. It seems like every VA is different. I will update once there’s further progress.

And did you hear anything yet? I am also waiting, finished physical/urine/blood last week. Fingerprinting, Vetpro, and equip completed last month. I was told by HR that they have all of my reference checks completed and are in the process of verifying my employment and education hx. As of now, my application has not been to the board yet...

I agree the process can vary between the different VAs. Have you heard anything new? I have done everything there was to be done, just waiting on my firm offer and salary for a permanent position.

They’re working on boarding me for the first week of July orientation if my vetpro and eqip clears on time. I’ve already done fingerprints.

They already offered my salary, 22k more than my current job which I intend to keep part time or per diem.

I am in Lexington, KY and the Nashville HR is helping with some of the appointments and it has been crazy. HR called my references 2 months ago and someone else called them again and asked the same questions like they hadn't talked to anyone before. I went to have my drug screen because the HR person in Nashville sent me and they didn't have the info they needed to do it so I had to come back. It has been so confusing. LOL

I have done equip, physical, drug screen and still do not have a formal offer. Interview was in April. I had to tell my manager since they wanted a current supervisor reference, so I wish I could just get a start date and formal offer.

My friend got an offer and has been a bedside nurse for 10 years and she said it was not enough money and turned it down.

I accepted the firm offer and will start Monday for orientation. Can I ask how you’re doing and you’re experience since orientation?

Hello from Portland OR,

I had a phone interview for a VA RN position today. I thought it went reasonably well, and I think the position/unit would be a great fit for me. At the end, the managers stated that if I was selected, I would hear from HR in 2-6 weeks. I was not offered an in-person interview right away, and now of course I'm second-guessing my interview performance.

Does VA hire RNs without an in-person interview, or at least a tour of the unit itself?

Thanks for any insight you can offer.
