Anyone else going through the VA's long and tedious process? Lets connect here and support each other. Much luck to you all!

Thank you so much for replying! I will continue to apply, and wait LOL

Thank you for letting me know! Dimensions? I will Google it. Thanks again.

Because of the COVID the whole process from applying online to the job offer was less than 1 month.

Yes mine too, they didn't even have the time for the board to discuss grade so HR put me as a nurse II level 12 and I did all paper work including Vetpro in like a week, they send me the firm offer before physical and finger prints which is now a part of the orientation. I'm located in Ohio but the VA that I've applied to is in Detroit which was hit hard with COVID. I will drive an hour from my house to the VA but it's worth it I think and I'm really excited.

I see! Hopefully things get quick here too. Let’s see! How was the interview. Which kind of questions they ask? I get very nervous during interviews. Thanks for the update and congratulations

I got the job at the Ann Arbor location. They also put me as nurse II level 12 which is a crazy amount of money compared to my last job. Almost $30k more. I wonder how long we will be getting the salary for and hopefully they don't take too much of it away from us.

Interview was over facetime and the managers had a piece of paper in front of them that they just went over and asked me random questions. I cant remember the questions they asked me sorry LOL. I felt like I bombed it but I think they needed some nurses bad so they hired me basically the same day.

Congratulations on your new position. Was the process also quick? Can you please tell me which kind of questions they ask during interview. Thank you!

Thank you for replying, LOL I’m sure you did just fine

Process was very quick. I filled out my online application online on 3/26 and got a email from the recruiter the same day! Interview was 5 days later. It took about 3 weeks from start to finish because of the COVID compared to 4-8 months people have been posting in here. Some questions were. A time you were in a tough situation and how you handled it. Coworker is gossiping about you, what would you do? A time you went above and beyond for a patient. I can only remember these 3.

Thank you for replying, WOW! that was so quick! The job closed on 4/10 I was referred a week later. Didn’t hear anything yet. Thank you for replying! I’m in NY applied for VA Northport NY. How about you?

Preetbrar217,

how much experience do you have? any certifications?

I am just curious because two people on this board have been boarded on as nurse II step 12. Which is REALLY nice. I am hoping for the same. I am still waiting on my offer but was told due to COVID I would receive the maximum possible grade and step. Once COVID is "over" and the situation here has improved, they would re-evaluate my step and adjust. Is that the same ya'll were told??

Only 2 years of experience and yes I have been told the same. It will suck taking that big pay cut when covid is over. I have a feeling they are giving all the new hires the maximum grade and step to cover for the surge/crisis pay that other hospitals are offering. The hospital I will be leaving from was giving us all $20 an hour extra for crisis pay. IDK will have to wait and find out.
