From the previous posts I've read the VA hiring process is pretty long and drawn out. I've applied to two different VA sites. The VA an hour away from my home I can always get in contact with a nurse recruiter and my application status for two posting says "referred to selecting official." The VA closest to my home, I can't get through to the recruiter, she emailed me back once and the status of all the apps just says "application received." I do know a nurse practitioner that works at this VA site and she tried to give my resume to the recruiter, but I had to apply online.
For those of you that are familiar with the hiring process, any idea what the next step is. In all there are around 20 RN vacancies. The two systems have two completely different online application submissions, how will I know if I've completed the application process correctly, its a little confusing
I've been applying since I've graduated and earlier this year I found out that I was applying the wrong way so those positions don't count. These positions closed in September.
Thanks in advance ?
I just received information from my tentative offer. One of the steps says to complete the Vetpro process. I cannot load the page at all! I have tried using Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Explorer. http://fcp.vetpro.org/ and https://fcp.vetpro.org/ do not load for me. Can somebody please help? Does the site load for you right now? I'm beyond stressed right now
If I recall correctly it says to use Firefox or IE. I did part of mine on Safari, but it closed abruptly so went back and completed it using Firefox.
I was able to get it to load from the get go, but the password they gave me didn't work. When I finally got hold of them they said I had probably been locked out because I waited so long (5 days) to get around to starting Vetpro.
Now I'm waiting. My Vetpro peers have received the ppwk to complete. My facility
Is pretty backed up so prints and physical not until Aug.
*I have noticed that some of the websites close briefly over the weekends for maintenance....maybe that is what you are experiencing?
If I remember correctly, you can save and come back so if you are having problems, just save often. If you can't get it, don't worry and call them on Monday. Offers won't be rescinded bc you couldn't get in to Vetpro. Don't stress over it. You have already gotten past the hardest part which is getting to the point you are now. Print it out for yourself when you are finished bc there is so much there, you may want it to save you time in the future.
I couldn't print mine at the time bc of a printer problem but the Vetpro guy gave me another password a week later. All the Vetpro passwords are temporary.
Thanks for your help. I started trying to load vetpro late last night and couldn't even get to a logon page. All the web browsers say that they can't find the page. I really hope its just down for maintenance over the weekend.
On vetpro they talk about work history. I read that it is only for RN work after graduation from nursing school. Is this correct?

I haven't even started entering any information because I can't get the logon page to load. I don't even know what the vetpro page looks like lol. Thanks for your advice. I will call them on Monday.
Yea I read it on a VA website, but it wasn't for the specific VA that I am going to be working for. The instructions that I received from HR said "The name(s) of institutions, city and state, positions(s) held and dates of appointments or employment since graduation from professional school. You will be asked to account for any gaps greater than 30 days." If I have had no RN work since graduation, do I just put the gap and say something like "studied for the NCLEX and applied for RN employment"?
Ok, so I am brand new to allnurses... forgive me if I post incorrectly :) I have recently applied for a job at the VA near my home. I have been reading about the horror stories of the application/interview/Boarding process etc and am getting a little overwhelmed! So I applied for the position on the 9th of this month and the posting closed on the 13th. I was emailed by the HR woman on the 16th and she requested I complete two additional forms (the declaration of federal employment 306 AND an additional application form 10-2850). I thought I completed all of the necessary documentation online and both of these forms she emailed me look really similar if not identical to ones I completed online. She was very nice and helpful with any/all interactions.
What I am wondering is, are these 'additional' documents she was asking me to complete? Or are they part of the initial application process that I missed somehow? I'm a little worried I may have already blown my opportunity if I missed paperwork in this initial stage

Those are both standard forms, so SHOULD have been posted as requirements when you completed and submitted your online application. However, the usual process is to have an application rejected completely if the paperwork is not completed properly. The fact that you got an email requesting the forms indicates it wasn't an error on your part. If it was....they wouldn't bother to contact you. Maybe there was a problem with the downloading of your information; anything is possible. I wouldn't sweat ANY of that, as long as you DO what you're being asked NOW :)

Do not give two weeks notice until you have an offer letter. I did not have those unreasonable deadlines. I was given a choice of three start dates. I do not see how they can give you a start date when you don't have Eqip done or physical and fingerprints. Call the HR guy.
The time off at the VA is a wonderful thing. Lol
