UWOSH Accelerated Nursing May 2016 Cohort

Published

Hi guys. Wanted to start a topic/thread for those applying into the May 2016 cohort, now that the application has opened. Has anyone else noticed on the application that the 2 recommendations are no longer required? Thought this was interesting.

As for me, I'm getting ready to take the TEAS V (Aug 1st) and finishing my CNA course next week with the state exam in August. I have a few months of CNA experience in a long term adult care facility and just got a job as a CNA at a local pediatric long term care facility, which I'm looking forward to since this is the area of nursing I hope to focus on after graduating (peds.) I graduated from the Univ of Pittsburgh back in 2001 with a dual BS in Psych and Business and did most of my post bach work in clinical psych (inpatient, outpatient, step down, peds again..) Applied and was accepted to PA school back in 2002 but decided that being a PA wasn't exactly what I wanted to do so waited, got married, had kids yada yada. Here I am, mid 30s, 2 young boys, applying into UWOSH. How about you? Say hi and introduce yourself so we can get to know one another during this ride. :) :)

What is your CNA experience? And you'll have much more accumulated by the end of the year or start of the program. I'm sure they consider that (at least I hope!)

i think many of us are in the same boat with that.. Unless you're a reapplicant.

No experience besides the training program so far. I won't be able to start looking for a job until the end of this month due to other obligations. This is my first time applying.

I took the TEAS yesterday and my results were online in about 24 hours. I am actually happy with my score. I don't know that it is good enough to be competitive, but I am going to run with it because I just don't want to study for that test anymore! My total score is 86.7 with Reading at 88.1, Math 80, Science 89.6 and English 86.7

I was doing better in Reading and English on the practice exams, but worse in Math and Science, so I was happy to lose a little on Reading and English to gain in Math and Science. I figure if I don't get in then I may retake it, but I am thinking if I don't get in, it would have more to do with lack of CNA specific experience.

Does anyone know if there are statistics based on the other cohorts such as number of applicants, TEAS Scores, GPA etc? I am thinking of sending an email to find out. I am just really curious!

I plan to get my application all ready to go in the next two days and sending it out. The deadline is creeping up fast!!

Well... we wait! I wish they confirmed receiving the application. I mean, I can see it was 'picked up at post office' but I'd like an email from admissions saying received. LOL. Oh well, patience...patience...

Wonder how many applications for this cohort and if we'll find out that sorta stuff.

Mailed my application off today! Glad to have it done, but I am not looking forward to the wait! Based on the other threads about when did people start getting notified for interviews.....October?

Sooooo..... do they send an email letting us know our completed application was received or only if something is missing?!

Waiting is always the hardest part. :)

Hope everyone had a great week!

OH and did you guys see they are adding a third cohort starting Feb 2017?!

GreniedGal, I been looking, and can't find the link for the Feb cohort.

never mind.

or did you mean February 2016.??

Panalitos, it's on their page. 4th bullet point...

That's exciting about the 3rd cohort, although it doesn't do any of us any good at this point. I don't know about you but I'm hoping to get in somewhere before then!

Has anyone called admissions to see if their application has been received? That is definitely a downside to a paper application. It's odd they haven't transitioned to an electronic application like a lot of schools.

How did you All prepared for the TEAS test?

Did you just bought a book?

did practice tests on line?

did you enroll in some course?

Thank you for the feedback

Thank you Glenled Gal
