Hi guys. Wanted to start a topic/thread for those applying into the May 2016 cohort, now that the application has opened. Has anyone else noticed on the application that the 2 recommendations are no longer required? Thought this was interesting.
As for me, I'm getting ready to take the TEAS V (Aug 1st) and finishing my CNA course next week with the state exam in August. I have a few months of CNA experience in a long term adult care facility and just got a job as a CNA at a local pediatric long term care facility, which I'm looking forward to since this is the area of nursing I hope to focus on after graduating (peds.) I graduated from the Univ of Pittsburgh back in 2001 with a dual BS in Psych and Business and did most of my post bach work in clinical psych (inpatient, outpatient, step down, peds again..) Applied and was accepted to PA school back in 2002 but decided that being a PA wasn't exactly what I wanted to do so waited, got married, had kids yada yada. Here I am, mid 30s, 2 young boys, applying into UWOSH. How about you? Say hi and introduce yourself so we can get to know one another during this ride. :) :)
I think adding a third cohort is great! It means the program is successful and thriving! I also hope to get in before Feb 2017!
Panalitos, I also bought the ATI book and 2 practice tests. I basically studied everything in the book and took all the online and book practice tests.
I have not called about my application. I am thinking we should hear about interviews the first part of October based on past classes that have posted on here. The waiting is already driving me crazy.

I had emailed the nursing school about 2 weeks ago regarding interview dates and there were unable to provide any information on a timeline. Someone a couple months ago indicated they were changing the interview process this year but I'm not sure in what way.
snwbal, which program was that and did you get in?
someone was mentioning being notified in october about interviews. not sure when the phone interviews take place though. guessing oct-nov since decisions are in december. it's only been about 2 weeks since the deadline but it feels A LOT longer! anticipation is killer. :)
how is everyone's CNA jobs treating them? i'm really enjoying mine and learning a ton. it makes me happy to work so closely with the RNs and to be reminded about how much I want to do that job. makes the waiting a bit better. but just a bit.

The program is Texas Tech's second degree program. I was accepted but I don't plan to attend d/t it being out of state. I want to stay in Oregon and UWOSH gives me that ability.

snwbal, I agree.. I hope by the time that 3rd cohort starts, I'll be getting ready to graduate and looking at my first RN job! :) But definitely good to see for future students.
Although tempting, I personally didn't call. I think it says not to, due to the large number of applications they receive. Electronic applications would be convenient, but there is also something nice about good ol fashioned pen and paper and snail mail. It's tough to wait tho.
Does anyone know if we won't hear unless we have something missing or until invited to interview? Or will they let us know the application is complete and under review?
