UW BSN 2018

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi! I'm applying for the UW BSN for next fall. This is my second time applying to the program and I really want to get in! I thought I would start a discussion so we can all help each other out since the application comes out this month and the essay questions are already out!

A little about myself:

-When I applied for this fall my nursing prerequisite gpa was a 3.0 and I retook one class and I believe now it is a 3.2 which isn't that great but they accept anywhere from a 2.4-4.0 for this fall so I am not too worried about that.

-When I applied for this fall I only had 120 healthcare experience hours and when I apply for next year I'll have well over 1,500.

-I'm also doing a study abroad program in maternal and child health in December before the app is due and this year i managed to get a job at Mary Bridge Children's hospital and recently got hired at Seattle Children's. I also got certified in neonatal resuscitation.

Thanks all! I can't wait to hear back and get some advice!

The week is finally here!! I hope everyone has a great week and it ends even better by getting called in to do the proctored. The last month really flew by!! Good luck everyone :)

And the countdown begins.......Best of luck!

I got an email invitation to the proctored essay!! I really was not expecting to hear back until Friday.

Hello, I'm new to this thread. This is my second time applying to the BSN program at UW. I just got an email invitation to the proctored essay. Does anyone have any tips on how to study for it? Especially the math portion? I'm so nervous now! Good luck to everyone!

Got my invitation for the essay too! Good luck everyone!

Unfortunately, I received my rejection. I'm not too torn up because I have an interview for Seattle University's program! Good luck to you all and I wish you guys the best.

Could you give me some advice in protocol essay questions, which parts I should emphasize? Thanks

I just received the email saying I've been invited to the proctored essay! I'm so excited! Good luck to everyone! :)

I was rejected last year with no invitation to the proctored at all.... Guys!!! I was invited to the proctored this year!! GOOD LUCK EVERYONE and for those who don't get invited, my advice is to keep trying!

Hi guys, I was recently invited to attend the proctored essay as well!

I found this site about an hour ago and read through 2016's thread about their application process. There will be two parts to the essay (as far as I know). One part will include a couple simple math/conversion problems and the other will provide us a few patient scenarios. Regarding the patient scenarios, it is important for us to emphasize our strengths and weaknesses in dealing with the situation. I believe the proctored essay is the perfect opportunity to prove to them that we are capable of working under high-pressure and solidifying our strengths as nursing candidates. Best of luck to everyone in here!!

Here is the link to 2016's comment thread: (page 8 also includes some more information about the proctored essay)

I, unfortunately, didn't get invited to the proctored essay but wanted to take the opportunity to wish those that did good luck! I'll be rooting you all on next Wednesday and look forward to you sharing your experience!

Thanks for the info. :)
