Hi! I'm applying for the UW BSN for next fall. This is my second time applying to the program and I really want to get in! I thought I would start a discussion so we can all help each other out since the application comes out this month and the essay questions are already out!
A little about myself:
-When I applied for this fall my nursing prerequisite gpa was a 3.0 and I retook one class and I believe now it is a 3.2 which isn't that great but they accept anywhere from a 2.4-4.0 for this fall so I am not too worried about that.
-When I applied for this fall I only had 120 healthcare experience hours and when I apply for next year I'll have well over 1,500.
-I'm also doing a study abroad program in maternal and child health in December before the app is due and this year i managed to get a job at Mary Bridge Children's hospital and recently got hired at Seattle Children's. I also got certified in neonatal resuscitation.
Thanks all! I can't wait to hear back and get some advice!
In fact, here is info directly from the SoN BSN website:
After an initial application review, some applicants will be asked to write a proctored essay. This essay counts towards your total score. You will receive an email notification by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 16, 2018 if you must write the essay.
The proctored essay is scheduled for Wednesday, February 21, 2018 from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. and will be held in the Health Sciences Building on the UW Seattle Campus. Directions to the Health Sciences Building can be found here, and the room number will be included in your email invitation.
There are no early or make-up sessions for the proctored essay.
So after my application was completed and sent in, I ended up switching one of my classes I'm going to be taking in the Spring. It's not one of the pre-reqs nor was it on any of the general requirements we had to fill out, but it will still be different than the transcript I uploaded with my application. Should I email the SON and ask if that will be a problem or not? I want to be cautious just in case because I know some schools are very strict about discrepancies like that.
@workhardstayhumble the same thing happened to me so I emailed the school. They said as long as you had submitted your application by the deadline, your recommender had until the date their link expired to complete the letter of recommendation and your application was considered complete. Phew!
Hello Everyone - I've been browsing this thread for a while and the questions/responses have been helpful, so I thought I'd post a question as well. I've submitted my BSN application and am now working on my app to UW in general. Has anyone received any advice from UW or prior nursing students on the Statement of Purpose for the general UW application? I wasn't able to attend an in-person info session and I'm curious if this application was discussed at all. Thanks in advance and best of luck to everyone!
