I'm not sure if I'm posting in the correct forum and I know I'm a wee bit early, but is there anyone out there near Houston getting ready to apply for fall 2017 in a couple of months ?? Where are you academically ? I have micro and Chem left for this fall and I'm applying right before deadlines ! I keep saying it's far away, but it keeps coming closer and closer !
I dont think we are! I am not good with directions lol but I live by the woodlands. Its still about an hour and 40 min for me! It also made me feel good because I looked at a friends schedule and they have one day off on the weekday and weekends as well. 2 longer days because of clinicals. other than that the days seem reasonable. The good thing is that some clinical rotations are done in Houston! I went to an open house and they said you can also talk to the coordinator for clinicals and let them know you prefer Houston because of where you live.
I know the area over there. Went shopping at a boutique in the Spring area a few months ago for my wedding dress.
It's a good thing that you know someone in the program, to get helpful information like that. I do remember them telling me the same thing about clinicals.
On a side note, I have scheduled my retake of the HESI for UTH on 11/26. Have been getting tutored on math, which was the only bad score I had.
@AndreaD2016 - So funny! Because I bought my wedding dress in a boutique in spring too! I have already taken the HESI and scored a 94 on the math section! I just studied the HESI purple book for math. Good luck on that! I am also applying to UTH, but I am still thinking about retaking because my A&P score was not as high as I wanted it to be. I was a bit confused thought because on the UTH website it says "recommended" score is 75 - 80% in each section, so does that mean that a 75 is required in each section like every other school that requires the HESI? Sometimes it gets overwhelming, because every school has different requirements!
I am going to apply for Fall 2017 as well. But not as sure if I will get in, I have a 4.0 GPA and a composite score of a 81 on the TEAS V. I scored about a 92 on Science and 86 in Math but fell short in Reading with an 83 and a 70 in English. How many times can you retake the teas for UTMB? and what else can I do to be competitive? I go to Texas State Uni. and I'm a chemistry tutor.
I think your GPA and teas are competitive for UTMB.. On their website it says a score of 75% or above is considered competitive. I am not sure how many days you have to wait to retake the teas. You may want to call UTMB to ask if they require you to wait a certain amount of time before retaking the teas.
Quick question - Did you take the new version of the TEAS? I took TEAS V and I was nervous about retaking for the new ATI TEAS since some of the things were different. Just wondering how difficult it was
Have any of you applied yet? I was wondering if I could start my application and save it until I took the teas test. I'm scheduled to take it in less than 3 weeks. I'm just excited and kind of scared to wait to start the application process. Anyone know?
Also, I haven't taken a&p2 yet and I know it will be on the teas. Has anyone taken the teas and made a good score without a&p2? I'm so worried!
Does anyone think having alot of Science classes/gen classes left will affect my chances? I'm a 2nd year college student applying to Texas State- Round Rock nursing school and I realized I also have the bare minimum pre-reqs for UTMB as well. I barely have 40 of the 60 required Pre-reqs completed, and I still need A&P 2, Micro, and the Chem Lab for the Science courses. (TxST doesn't require a Chem Lab for our Nursing program).
stats (all classes from Texas State University)
overal gpa : 3.74
science gpa: 3.2 (A in Chem/Bio but a C in A&P)
TEAS = 90% overall (got a 92% in Science)

Are we around the same area? I live in the suburbs south of Houston off hwy 59.
Those are the same reasons I am applying to the school.
I went to their information session back in March, and left with a really good impression of the staff and professors too.
I would only be there for the length of any classes. Not one of those people who can even stand to study at Barnes and Noble (with the minimal noise).
