UTMB UTHealh fall 2017

Published

I'm not sure if I'm posting in the correct forum and I know I'm a wee bit early, but is there anyone out there near Houston getting ready to apply for fall 2017 in a couple of months ?? Where are you academically ? I have micro and Chem left for this fall and I'm applying right before deadlines ! I keep saying it's far away, but it keeps coming closer and closer !

I'm kind of in the same boat as you. I was hesitant toward applying to the summer 2017 UTMB program, but I think I'm just going to go for it since the worse they could say is no. Then I'll apply for fall when the application comes out. I'm not married but I plan to live on the island if accepted.

I'm just worried I won't take my TEAS in time, and or need to retake and miss the deadline (having already sent application). Just because I'm in classes now, I'm just trying to find the most wise way to execute the study time needed.

I haven't given that much thought. I think there's still time to take the TEAS, I have a feeling I may not be ready either.

I was going to apply to UTHealth and utmb but since they both want different tests I made the hard decision of just studying for the HESI. They're both different tests with different study methods and different subjects. Also the teas is a lot harder than the HESI apparently. So I'm doing the HESI in November and in January I will study for the teas.

Hello Kida, I'm also making that tough decision on which to focus on first.

Through October I am going to be focusing on studying for the HESI, then by November I want to take it and apply to UTH. From November to December I will study for the TEAS and then apply to UTMB.

After thinking about the timeline a lot, I think this is the best choice for me.

For those of you that have already taken the Teas any advice? I'll be taking mine in about 2 weeks.

Has anyone taken the teas or hesi yet? I'm still trying to decide which to study for first. I have both of the study guides at hand, but I haven't looked at them yet. Also, how long are y'all planning on studying for each exam before you take it? I'm super nervous and I want to be successful the first time I take it.

I'm not currently working. I'm still certified to work but I'm focusing 100% on school and getting accepted into the programs.

Hello,

I've decided to take the HESI before the TEAS, because people have said TEAS is harder. So, if I have a familiarity with passing the HESI (with a good score) I should be better off with the TEAS hopefully.

Hello all! I am applying for the fall of 2017 and I am super excited! I am finishing off my associates in science this semester and I will be retaking microbiology and taking patho as my elective in the spring. I have already taken my teas and i was satisfied with my score; however my husband convinced me to retake for a higher score, so I decided to at least try.

@AndreaD2016 - I just got married on November 14, 2015. If I get accepted I will not be moving to the island.

How far would your commute be then?

Mine would be about an hour and a half there, not sure how long back with traffic.

@AndreaD2016 - My commute would be about the same! My friend goes to UTMB now and she told me there is a student that commutes from Conroe. The only reason why I am considering going to UTMB with such a long commute is that they are a great school, and I dont have to be there super early in the morning every day AND I have no problem studying at my house. A lot of students need to study at the school for quietness, but it is just me and my husband.
