I'm not sure if I'm posting in the correct forum and I know I'm a wee bit early, but is there anyone out there near Houston getting ready to apply for fall 2017 in a couple of months ?? Where are you academically ? I have micro and Chem left for this fall and I'm applying right before deadlines ! I keep saying it's far away, but it keeps coming closer and closer !
You have to have the 40 hours minimum to apply (including 8 SCH from sciences), even if you have 39 hours they won't consider the application.
Keep in mind that all pre-requisites courses must be completed before admission into the program. Therefore, if you are applying for Fall 2017 and have 20 SCH remaining, you would need to finish those 20 SCH during the Spring, and Summer sessions (if they accept you into the program that is).
All this information I received during an information session and from their website.
Best of luck!
Does anyone think having alot of Science classes/gen classes left will affect my chances? I'm a 2nd year college student applying to Texas State- Round Rock nursing school and I realized I also have the bare minimum pre-reqs for UTMB as well. I barely have 40 of the 60 required Pre-reqs completed, and I still need A&P 2, Micro, and the Chem Lab for the Science courses. (TxST doesn't require a Chem Lab for our Nursing program).stats (all classes from Texas State University)
overal gpa : 3.74
science gpa: 3.2 (A in Chem/Bio but a C in A&P)
TEAS = 90% overall (got a 92% in Science)
^ I bought the official ATI study guide + the practice tests, goodluck fam
also, how did you guys turn in the transcripts from NursingCAS? This method is soooo confusing, the application proccess is getting on my nerves. Did you guys go to your registrar from your University or did ya'll get it online???? Wow

I absolutely hate Nursing CAS. I applied last semester and it was incredibly frustrating compared to the other 3 schools I applied to. To answer your question I had all my transcripts sent electronically, which included 4 different colleges.

@RB_Dez Thank you!
Also, when it comes to sending the transcripts to NursingCas depending on your school when you are requesting it online you can upload an attachment (lonestar college). Now one of my transcripts i had to actually go in person because they don't have that option (uh main). In another one i had to fax the attachment and have them send it with the transcript (hcc). Just depends and you are right, it is very sloooow unfortunately:no:
I thought I'd add myself to the thread. My name is Julie. I live out about 15 minutes from Galveston. I've put in applications at UTMB and UT Health Science for Fall 2017 and now it's just a sit and wait game. At 35, nursing will be a total career switch for me. I've been teaching middle school science for the last 10 years and I feel like I cannot make the difference in the classroom like I once did. Now it's all about testing. I miss getting to build relationships and knowing that what I do makes a difference. I have a Bachelor's in Psychology and Criminal Justice and I also have two Master's degrees in Education (one is Educational Leadership and Administration and the other is Curriculum and Instruction). As far as nursing stats go:
HESI score of 90
TEAS score of 77.3 (SOOOOOO much harder than the HESI was for me)
Science GPA: 3.35
Undergraduate GPA: 3.41
Overall GPA: 3.51
Just hoping I'm a competitive applicant because looking at my scores compared to others I'm not so sure, especially since I was told my Graduate hours count for nothing.
