Hey guys! I couldn't find a thread for UTMB Summer 2016 so I decided to make one. I guess because it's a little early since they just open for applications. This is the first time I use NursingCAS so I'm not quite sure how it work yet. If anyone is familiar with NursingCAS, could you please share your experience? I sent in my transcript 3 days ago and right now I'm working on my personal statement. I saw some previous threads where people mentioned about MyStar and supplemental application/document? Is it something you will receive after you submit everything on NursingCAS?
Any information will help! Thanks in advance :)
So how did everyone's interviews go? The professor that interviewed me was very nice and down to earth and I think it went well! (Fingers crossed) they said they are accepted 90 students for summer and they don't have the numbers yet on how Many applied. I was told 4-6 weeks before I hear anything since this was only the 1st interview wave. So best of luck to all of us!! [emoji2] hope u all enjoy the holidays!
My interview was awesome! I'm usually really stiff during interviews and say a lot of "um" and "likes" cause I'm nervous but the interviewer was super relaxed and friendly so I loosened up and had a great talk with her.
Some of the questions were:
Tell me about yourself
What is the most important part of your personal statement
Do you have any other obligations outside nursing school
How will you change your study habits to compliment the rigorous program
What do you like to do in your down time
Who is your support network
There were a few others as well, but I don't remember them because I didn't have to think too hard to answer them, so they must have been easy questions.
She also told me about a lot of things UTMB has to offer over Texas A&M because I was already accepted into that school, and I"m seriously considering choosing UMTB over A&M now!
At the end of the interview, she told me informally that she was nearly 100% sure I would be accepted into the program, so that's great. I'm just debating which school I really think would be a good fit now!
Hello everyone! I have also applied for Summer 2016. I submitted my NursingCAS application mid-August and supplemental on September 22. I have not heard anything yet, but my prior TEAS score was 72 and I did not make above 65% for the math section so I was told to retake it and send my scores since the admission committee would most likely request that anyway. I took it again yesterday and made an 82 which I am pretty happy with since I work full time and in school I didn't have a lot of time to study. If accepted, I plan on quitting my job and go to school full time. I am currently an Accountant and my undergraduate GPA is 3.2. Not the best, but I am hoping with my personal statement and TEAS V score I am somewhat competitive. To be a nurse has been my dream for the majority of my life! I will not give up! So happy to be finally doing what I've always wanted to!
I am am hoping to hear something soon! Not sure how they do the interviews, but I see there have been quite a few! Congrats to y'all!! I cannot wait to hear something!
They should email you with the same email that you received your MyStar information on. I believe you can be accepted without an interview if your GPA is high and TEAS V score is high as well. I am not sure how high they have to be, but I believe someone posted around 3.85 for overall GPA, and in the 80's for TEAS. Not exactly sure though. Good luck! I am hoping to hear something soon as well!
My interview was several weeks ago (11/13) and I am still waiting to hear. It appears that there is much confusion about the actual time frame for providing notifications since different staff members are supplying different information. My interviewer told me that I would have a response before Thanksgiving but when I followed up with the board, she stated that they will interview ALL applicants before extending offers to anyone. She stopped short of telling me when all interviews would be complete and simply told me to watch my email. If you have not already done so, go to the open house offered by the school. They have a lot of information about the school and program but it varies based on semester.
@JenniferWatts I agree! I went to the open house in August and pretty much got the same info. Who are you calling when you say you talked to the board? I may try and call today to make sure they've receive everything and my new TEAS V score. I have been working with Elizabeth quite a bit, but not sure if I should reach out to someone else. I'm just paranoid I guess haha

I'm on the waitlist for the spring and recieved the interview invite e-mail. Liz said I can use my interview from the spring for the summer as well. So if you are on the waitlist for the spring you can use that same interview for the summer.
